Hazel era una ragazza terrorizzata che è stata salvata da un rifugio in Romania. Le foto che abbiamo ricevuto di lei, aveva gli occhi spalancati e assolutamente paralizzata dal terrore. Da quando è arrivata da noi a Oakwood, è ancora troppo timorosa per essere manipolata, tuttavia abbiamo visto tanta allegria da parte sua, specialmente quando ha tutti i suoi amici canini intorno a lei per sentirsi sicura. Hazel è un vero golosone però è ancora troppo spaventata per prendere le leccornie dalle nostre mani, quindi stiamo costruendo la fiducia non esercitando pressione su di lei e permettendole di prendere le leccornie che vengono lanciate verso di lei. Hazel ha sempre convissuto con altri cani e crediamo che sia assolutamente necessario vivere con un altro cane. La sua fiducia nelle persone è così bassa che avrà bisogno di un cane più sicuro nella sua vita che le mostri come comportarsi. Si intende bene con tutti i cani con cui l'abbiamo mescolata finora ma i maschi sono senz'altro la sua scelta preferita, le piacciono particolarmente i nostri giovani Walter, Lewis e Prince <3 Hazel non è mai stata testata con i gatti. A causa della sua natura nervosa, al momento non c'è una via sicura per testarla. Hazel ha mostrato livelli moderati di energia da quando è con noi ma potrebbero aumentare mentre si abitua a una casa. Hazel non ha mai vissuto in una casa prima. Se dovesse vivere con un altro cane, crediamo che possa stare sola per 4-5 ore ma ogni periodo in cui lui sarà solo dovrà essere costruito gradualmente nel tempo. Hazel è ancora troppo spaventata per tentare l'addestramento al guinzaglio. Hazel non ha alcun tipo di addestramento di base.

Hazel was a terrified girl that was rescued from a shelter in Romania. The photos that we received of her, she was wide eyed and absolutely frozen in fear. During her time with us, this girl has already come so far. She spent months being too scared to take treats from us and would always wait until we were no longer around to eat them, strokes were an absolute no go as you could tell by the fear in her eyes that she always thought something bad was going to happen. These days, Hazel will now happily take treats from our hands, although she can still flinch if we move slightly too quickly, and she loves nothing more than strokes and fusses. She stands and waits patiently in her kennel for her time to have some 1-1 with our volunteers. As she is starting to do so well with people, we have changed her rehoming criterea from needing to live with another dog for confidence to now believing that she would cope absolutely fine as an only dog in the home. Hazel has lots of dog friends at the rescue, male and female. She definately prefers the boys in her life but can be very selective of the females. Hazel has not been tested with cats. Due to her nervous nature, there is currently no safe way of testing her at the moment. Hazel has shown moderate energy levels since being with us but this could increase as she settles into a home Hazel has never lived in a home before. If she was to live with another dog, we believe she'd be ok to be left for 4-5 hours but any time where he will be by himself will need to be slowly built up over time We are just starting to desensitse Hazel to wearing a harness and lead, she's not yet started venturing out on walks due to her nervousness Hazel has no form of basic training
