Further information will be given when homing Roman. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust. Roman (or Romie for short!) is a handsome lurcher boy of around 5 years old, looking for his forever home after a tough start in life. Roman was living as a stray for a long time before he was finally caught and brought to safety, so he was understandably extremely fearful of people at first. He has been living in a lovely foster home, where he has gradually learned to trust and been shown that people aren't always scary – and he's now ready to find a family of his own! Roman has gained so much confidence during his time in foster, and is now totally relaxed at home and fully comfortable with his foster mum. He does still need gradual introductions to new people, as he is very hesitant at first and needs time and space to approach when he feels ready. Roman is a gentle soul, who has never been aggressive or defensive, even at his most frightened; but he does need patient, understanding adopters who will work at his pace, and not be tempted to push him too quickly. He is not scared of traffic or loud noises, and is actually more confident around people whilst on a walk, often choosing to walk in areas where he will see them. Roman is house trained, a real couch potato at home and is comfortable spending time alone at home (although he will help himself to any food left within reach!). He absolutely loves other dogs, and making new friends on walks! Roman currently shares his foster home with a female dog, and would benefit from the company of a similarly-sized female dog in his new home – hopefully a lurcher girl who understands his love for playing chase! He could live as the only dog, if everything else was perfect for him. He loves to zoom and sunbathe, so a good-sized and secure garden is a must! Roman does have a very high prey drive and although he walks beautifully on-lead, he will lunge to chase squirrels and deer, so needs an adopter physically strong enough to manage him. Roman is such a sweet boy, and a real character who knows how to make you laugh! He needs a very special home, but we know the right person for him is out there somewhere. Needs an adult only home. Cannot live in a male-only home (since it takes him much longer to feel comfortable with men). Would prefer to live with a female dog, but could be the only pet in the right home. Needs a quiet home environment. Must have a good-sized, secure garden. Adopters must be patient, kind and understanding.
