Adopt Awi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Puppy and a young dog. But considering that he has been traveling the world for several months, he already had a lot of experiences - he was lucky enough to fall under Monika's wings, who runs a dog hotel, where he was warmly accepted by the pack and had a lot to test. It is a very good sign that such a large group was able to like such a young dog! Probably there is no better review possible. Awi is very positively oriented towards the world. He is a dog who is curious and brave, who likes to experience and form his own opinion on various topics. So he already has an opinion that people like him, that it is possible to live with cats at home, and that it is worth staying with other dogs and learning from them! Horses do not impress him much either. Being left at home is not a problem, and destruction and barking are not necessary for him. He also showed his bold and quick side - so it is worth considering that sometimes you will have to hold him back a bit. Fortunately, he can be explained what can be done and what cannot. A puppy who had the luck to experience so many things already, that he asks for a warm home like the one where he has grown up so far. One that will provide him with proper walks in nature and allow him to continue leading a rich social life. It would be wonderful if he could live in a house where there are some dogs, he could also live with nice children. Awi is about 8-9 months old, currently weighs around 15 kg - he will probably be a medium-sized dog, around 20 kg. Currently, Awi is staying at the hotel in Olsztyn. Awi is under the care of the Association from the Forest Area, which manages the adoption process and reserves the right to choose the caregiver.

Aktualnie Awi przebywa w hotelu w Olsztynie. Awi pozostaje pod opieką Stowarzyszenia Ze Skraju Lasu, które prowadzi proces adopcyjny i zastrzega sobie prawo do wyboru opiekuna. Prosimy o kontakt SMS - oddzwonimy!

About Awi

What life with Awi looks like

Awi is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Awi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Awi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Awi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Awi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Awi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Awi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Awi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
