About Barney
View original (en)
Barney came into Bristol ARC as a stray after being found wandering with another dog. He is a gentle senior boy who will make a wonderful companion for the right home. Thriving in his foster home, Barney is currently living successfully with another dog. While he enjoys canine company, he can become excited when he sees dogs on walks, so he could happily live as the only dog in the home, provided he still has opportunities to greet other dogs while out and about. Barney absolutely loves people and thrives on attention, cuddles, and companionship. He has quickly discovered the comfort of the sofa and enjoys curling up next to his foster mum while she works from home. He can be left alone for a few hours and usually spends the time snoozing in his favourite spot – his orthopaedic dog bed, which helps support his ageing joints. As a senior dog, Barney benefits from daily joint supplements and will need to remain on the medication Pardale to help manage pain related to this. He has recently been diagnosed with dry eye and will require daily eye drops Optimmune. Adopter’s will need to be happy to continue with Barney’s medication needs. In return you will know the love of a very special boy. He enjoys gentle walks where he can take his time sniffing and exploring. He walks nicely on his harness, travels well in the car, and is not a fussy eater – he loves his treats! He isn’t particularly interested in toys and prefers relaxing and napping. Barney currently sleeps comfortably in a crate downstairs and has not yet mastered the stairs, so a home where he can stay mainly on one level would suit him well. Barney is looking for a calm, loving home where he can enjoy the simple things in life – companionship, routine, cosy naps, and plenty of affection.
