Adopt Baxter

Male · Adult · 4 years

Baxter is a 4-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer who loves outdoor adventures and sniffing. He's affectionate, loves cuddles, and enjoys water play. This clever boy knows basic commands and needs active adopters who can provide hiking, scent work, and agility. He requires children 12+ due to his large, clumsy nature and prefers being the only pet initially. Baxter needs a secure garden, can be left 1-2 hours once settled, and requires multiple pre-adoption visits within 45 minutes of Canterbury shelter.

Big handsome hunk Baxter is a 4 year old German Wirehaired Pointer who lives for exploring the great outdoors, nose out ready, will sniff anything he can reach. This loveable lad is super affectionate and just wants to be loved. He likes to be fussed all over and will lean in for more cuddles. This wonderful boy loves water and will splash about in the paddling pool, making waves. If you’re looking for your next adventure buddy, Baxter is your guy! Baxter is looking for a home with active adopters who can take him on lots of exploring, sniffy adventures in quiet walking areas, such as private hire fields, who can provide him with extra activities such as scent work or agility to keep his clever brain busy and give him all the care and attention he deserves. He can live with children aged 12 and over who understand that he is a large clumsy boy, who will play nicely with him and give him space to rest when needed. Baxter likes his attention undivided so is looking to be the only pet in the home; however, once settled in the home, there is a potential for him to have doggy walking friend who can tolerate his bouncy clumsy behaviour out and about. He is a very clever lad, he already has ‘sit’, ‘paw’ and ‘stay’ in the bag, he would definitely be up for learning more in short, sweet sessions with the help of a tasty treat. Baxter has been toilet trained in the past, but may need a refresher in his new home so a private, secure garden is needed. Once settled into the home, Baxter can get a little worried being left alone, he could be left for up to 1-2 hours, this would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his. Baxter will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home with potential home visits to make sure that he is settling in nicely so any potential adopters will need to live within 45 mins drive of the centre, please bear this in mind when applying.
