Adopt Diverse Agaporniden

Unknown · 1 year

Our Agapornis are lively and social birds full of energy and curiosity. They are active, alert, and quick, making them extremely entertaining companions. However, they are also very sensitive and can react fearfully or nervously in new situations. In particular, our hand-reared birds show great curiosity, although they can be unsure and cautious at first. The animals are loud and can brighten their surroundings with their singing, sometimes being quite noticeable in their volume. Due to their social nature, it is important not to keep Agapornis alone—they only feel comfortable and at home in the company of their fellow animals. As Agapornis are very lively, they require a large aviary and a well-secured environment to fully enjoy their freedom of movement. It is especially important that they have enough mental challenges—without mental stimulation, they tend to destroy things due to boredom. If their needs are met, Agapornis can be loving and versatile companions that bring great joy to every home! Paired housing required: Adoption can only occur in pairs or groups. Adoption options: We are pleased to receive inquiries for adoption as single pairs or in groups. Single housing not allowed: Single housing is not permitted. In addition to regular costs for accommodation and care, the following services have been provided for all animals:. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About Diverse Agaporniden

What life with Diverse Agaporniden looks like

Diverse Agaporniden is a small adult bird waiting at Tierheim beider Basel in Basel.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

Note from the shelter: Must be kept in pairs or groups - single housing not permitted. Requires large aviary and mental stimulation to prevent destructive behavior.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Diverse Agaporniden, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Diverse Agaporniden?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim beider Basel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Diverse Agaporniden on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Diverse Agaporniden if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim beider Basel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Diverse Agaporniden already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Diverse Agaporniden isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim beider Basel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Diverse Agaporniden and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
