Hi, I’m Clyde, a handsome 4-year-old lurcher with long legs, a big heart, and an even bigger love for the people I trust. I’m what they call a gentle giant — I may be on the larger side, but underneath that tall frame I’m a soft, sensitive boy who just wants to feel safe and loved. A lot of my past is a mystery, so my humans don’t know if I’ve ever lived in a home before. Because of that, I’m looking for someone patient and understanding — experience with lurchers would be a real bonus to help me settle into home life. As I learn the ropes, I may show a few cheeky behaviours like counter surfing (if food is within reach, I might think it’s fair game!) and I can find being left alone a little worrying, so I may show signs of separation anxiety. I’ll need a family who can keep leaving times very low to begin with and help me build confidence gradually. With patience and routine, I know I can make progress. Because home life is all still a bit new to me, I might have the occasional accident while I’m settling in, but with kind guidance and consistency, I should pick things up in no time. I’m looking for a home with children aged 11 and over, where everyone understands that I need time, patience, and kindness while I adjust. I may be able to live with a neutered female dog, ideally another sighthound, pending successful introductions, as I can enjoy the company of calm canine friends. I’ll also need a home without cats or small animals. Because I’m a big lad with long legs, I’ll need a secure garden with 6ft fencing where I can stretch my legs safely and relax.
