Adopt Kaïla

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Kaïla is a beautiful Malinoise born in April 2025. Returning to the shelter following a change in the situation of her former owners, she now awaits her family for life, the one who will understand all her sensitivity. She's a deeply cuddly and affectionate female dog once she feels comfortable and confident. Behind its dynamism is a companion who is very attached to the human. As a worthy representative of her race, Kaïla is a dog "connected" to her environment, which makes her very responsive during walks: congeners, cats, bikes, joggers or strollers are as much stimulation as they are; She doesn't know how to handle it calmly yet. Out of frustration, she can sometimes redirect her excitement. Educational follow-up will therefore be essential to help the person to calm down and focus on his human being. Kaïla also expresses some anxiety of separation (it tended to scratch doors in the past). This point will have to be worked with patience and progressivity as soon as it arrives to teach him to stay alone calmly. She is also an accomplished athlete! If you love running, canicross, frisbee or tracking, Kaïla will be your best partner. She has a vital need for daily physical and mental spending to be well on her feet. Kaïla is looking for a quiet environment, preferably without young children (youngers welcome), with adopters ready to invest seriously in her education and to manage her emotions, and providing her with a daily rich in activities (ball games, research, sport). To adopt Kaïla is to engage in a rich and intense relationship. With patience and good supervision, she will become the accomplice of all your adventures!

About Kaïla

What life with Kaïla looks like

Kaïla is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaïla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaïla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaïla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaïla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaïla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaïla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaïla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
