This disease affects about 1 in 200 cats. This malfunction of the pancreas is not healing. Fortunately, a diabetic cat can live an almost normal life, provided that diabetes is detected at an early stage and that the animal is well managed. .flex column.av-av one full-79ff81c021393065cee878051452f6a6{ -webkit-border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px; -moz-border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px; border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px; padding:0px 0px 0px 0px; .avia-image-container.av-khlvm14h-c499a9e2a44ff89da076a316b6b87087 img.avia image{ .avia-image-container.av-khlvm14h-c499a9e2a44ff89da076a316b6b87087 .av-image-caption-overlay-center{ .flex column.av-one full-79ff81c021393065cee878051452f6a6{ -webkit-border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px 0px; -moz-border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px; border-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px; padding:0px 0px 0px 0px 0px; Diabetes in cats results in increased blood glucose levels When the glucose reaches a critical threshold, the kidneys can no longer filter it properly and thus it goes directly into the urine. The cat will then urinate much more than usual, and often outside its litter box. This abnormal urination dehydrates him, which then causes him to drink excessively. Other symptoms can also be observed, such as unusual feeding frequency, dull and fat coat, intense fatigue, and a sharp decrease in activity. All cats, regardless of age and gender, are likely to have diabetes. The causes of the disease are many: overweight, poor nutrition, lack or absence of physical activity, inheritance. Cats over the age of 8 are still more exposed.
