Adopt Mati

Male · Senior · 20 years

Mati - Tiny kitten found on Biesak Street. Uses a litter box. When adopting a kitten, you must remember that contrary to the common belief, raising such a small animal is not at all the easiest. We do not recommend adopting kittens into a home with small children. Kittens are just learning how hard they can use their claws and teeth, which often causes scratches and wounds. This is the most common reason for returns from adoption. For such young animals, you need to be prepared to teach everything from scratch. Kittens are extremely energetic, they can destroy furniture, curtains, etc. Remember that a cat can live up to about 20 years, so by taking a kitten, you must be prepared to be responsible for it for a very long time. Kittens usually instinctively use the litter box, but you should remember that there may be cases where you will have to work on training them to use it. Keep in mind that kittens, due to lack of full vaccinations, are a high-risk group - they can get sick, the disease may initially be asymptomatic. ul. MATI - Malutki kotek znaleziony na Ul. Biesak. Korzysta z kuwety. About Mati

What life with Mati looks like

Mati is a senior cat waiting at Schronisko Kielce in Kielce.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mati, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mati?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kielce handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mati on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mati if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kielce will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mati already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mati isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kielce early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mati and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
