Adopt Maus

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 4 years

Our Maus, born in September 2022, is a sensitive and initially rather shy female cat. Compared to her sister Krümel, she shows more courage and curiosity and usually takes a slightly quicker step out of her shell. Maus was already tame in her previous home and knows how to interact with humans well. Currently, she simply needs some time to build trust and adapt to new situations. With patience, calmness, and understanding, she will surely thaw out gradually. Especially important for Maus is her sister Krümel, with whom she is very closely connected. The two give each other support and orientation, which is why we would most like to find them a shared home. Maus has only ever known an apartment-living environment and is looking for a quiet home with understanding people who can give her the time to settle in. We do not want to match Maus with Punky, as this would not harmonize well. Anyone who wants to give two gentle cat souls a chance will find a charming duo in Maus and Krümel by their side. 🐾 If you would like to meet her, please click the "Request Cat" button and fill out the online form completely. This way, we will receive all relevant information beforehand for an initial conversation. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

About Maus

What life with Maus looks like

Maus is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Ludwigshafen in Ludwigshafen/Rheim.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ludwigshafen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ludwigshafen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ludwigshafen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
