Adopt Minou

European Shorthair · Unknown · Senior · 13 years

Get to know lovely Minou 💛 Minou is a beautiful kattin of 13 years old with a soft personality and a heart full of love. She has given loyal friendship for many years and now she is searching for a warm home where she can spend her golden years in peace and security. Minou loves quiet spots in the house, soft blankets, a sunbeam on the windowsill, and especially: someone who still sees her. She enjoys attention, spins contentedly by soft cuddles, and looks at you with those wise eyes that tell a whole life story. Like many older cats, Minou has an increased thyroid function. Fortunately, this can be well controlled with medication or a modified diet. She therefore does not ask for intensive care, just someone with a big heart who is willing to give her those small extra supports. Older cats are unfortunately often overlooked. But Minou deserves so much love, warmth, and security. Maybe you are that one person who can give her a beautiful, peaceful old age. 🐾 Give Minou the chance to become someone's best friend again. For older cats may not give you years anymore… but they do give an awful lot of love.

About Minou

What life with Minou looks like

Minou is a large senior european shorthair cat waiting at Dierenasiel Ganzeweide in Veurne.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Minou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Minou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ganzeweide handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Minou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Minou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Ganzeweide will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Minou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Minou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ganzeweide early rather than rehoming privately; they know Minou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
