Adopt Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

*Rehoming Assistance* Oreo is a neutered, chipped, and vaccinated male dog who is currently losing his home as his owner has passed away. He is 5 years old and shows himself to be very playful and people-oriented. He is particularly friendly with children and loves to play with them. Additionally, he is very cuddly and enjoys long cuddles. He also knows cats. Oreo has no breathing problems, making him the perfect family member, even for really active people. Since an incident about a year ago where Oreo was badly bitten, his compatibility with other dogs has been difficult. He now has the requirement to wear a muzzle outside as a precaution. He barks at unfamiliar dogs out of insecurity. However, he gets along well with dogs he knows. Even in unusual situations, Oreo remains calm – even when a parrot landed on his head, he showed no reaction. Oreo has an allergy for which he takes an allergy pill daily and is fed monoprotein food. Unfortunately, his owner has passed away. The current primary caregiver cannot adequately exercise or safely manage him due to health reasons, so a suitable home is now being sought for Oreo. He is described as an alert and spirited dog who enjoys mental stimulation and likes to be active. At the same time, he is described as generally uncomplicated. Oreo loves treats – especially raw foods like carrots or kohlrabi are among his favorites. For Oreo, we wish for a home that provides him with sufficient activity, structure, and affection and is willing to further engage with the topic of allergies if needed.

About Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause

What life with Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause looks like

Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Gladbeck in Gladbeck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Gladbeck handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Gladbeck will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Gladbeck early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oreo sucht ein neues Zuhause and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
