About Pax
View original (en)
Pax is a lovely boy who came into Dogs Trust care due to his owner passing away. He has a big heart and would love to find a patient and understanding family that can help him settle back into home life. Pax can be worried about meeting new people but if allowed to say hello in his own time (and if a tasty treat is involved) he soon warms up, though he would prefer a quiet home without too many visitors. When overexcited he has been known to show puppy like behaviours like jumping up, humping and mouthing, our behaviour team can offer advise for helping set him up for success in the home and for how to help him manage his emotions and learn alternative behaviours for when he is overexcited. We feel he would be best suited to an adult only home where meeting new people and training around alternatives to jumping up can be kept consistent and with ideally no more than 2 people in the home. Pax is on pain relief for some discomfort in his hips which is likely to be ongoing, we can provide more information on this if you are a match. Pax is a real sweetheart who will make a wonderful addition to the home for a family willing to help him learn some new skills. Home requirements: Pax is a handsome 7 year old German Shepherd X Rottweiler. He can be underconfident around other dogs, he can walk alongside them but does not always pick up on the other dogs body language and can find dogs that are too OTT with their greetings worrying and will need to be kept on lead when outside of the home. He would be best suited as the only dog in the home and would benefit from some calm canine friends to walk with to help build his confidence and socialisation skills. Pax would like his own, secure garden with at with at least 6ft fencing so he has somewhere to play (he adores playing football and will kick the ball back to you!) and has easy access for the toilet. Once settled, Pax would be okay with being left for short periods of time. Available at Snetterton (Norfolk), Snetterton
