ID: w-korfu-rudolph-m-1225 Location: Haan, Kreis Mettmann (NRW) Update from the foster home April 2026: Rudolph is developing exceptionally well in his foster home - he is extremely friendly, eager to learn, and full of life, and is already house-trained. He handles daily walks, playtime, and moderate training sessions in leash handling, stop signals, and impulse control with age-appropriate concentration and composure. He loves to cuddle and play with his human and is always harmonious and very affectionate. He also enjoys taking naps together and going on exploration walks with plenty of sniffing in the woods and meadows. With other dogs, Rudolph has so far been extremely friendly, appropriate in making contact, and very playful. He is a smart, clever little guy who is fun to be around and makes you laugh a lot. Rudolph loves learning and especially sniffing games/nose work and will surely enjoy activities like Mantrailing as well. Rudolph is a truly good-hearted young dog who, due to his peaceful and social character, would also make a great second dog. He is now about 52 cm tall and currently weighs 17 kg. Update February 2026: Rudolph is currently about 50 cm tall. He has now mastered his first walk excellently - initially a bit unsorted, he quickly showed himself to be a clever little guy who learns fast :) December 2025: Rudolph was taken into the animal shelter for his own safety. He shows himself to be a very friendly, playful dog in the shelter, who is super open to people and fellow animals. Rudolph is about 5 months old and currently measures about 45 cm. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport.

About Rudolph

What life with Rudolph looks like

Rudolph is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudolph, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudolph?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudolph on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudolph if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudolph already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudolph isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudolph and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
