Adopt Scully

Male · Young · 3 years

Scully is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures, who will take the time to help him settle in and give him all the love and attention he deserves. He is a friendly bean but can be playful and bouncy, so could live with secondary school children who are confident with bouncy dogs, who will play nicely with him and give him space to rest when he needs. Scully would like to be the only pet in the home so he can have all of the attention to himself, he would be happy with playful and confident walking buddies who will tolerate his play style. He is a clever boy and has some training under his belt, he does a lovely “sit”, “wait” and “touch”, he is eager to engage in training in short, sweet sessions if a tasty treat is on offer. He would like a home with a private garden to have a potter around and play in. Scully can be worried being left so would like someone home the majority of the time, especially to begin with, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Scully will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted. Are you ready to get excited about life? Then Scully is your guy! This 3 and a half year old Bedlington Terrier/Whippet cross has the silliest personality and knows how to have fun. Play time is so much fun with this guy, he likes any toy he can shake or pull, so get those muscles ready for a great game of Tuggy! He is also a huge fan of a paddling pool and will play for hours in the water, splishing and splashing around. He likes a fuss and will lean into you for more, he will happily sit with you watching the world go by. This super sweet boy is ready to find his new home.

About Scully

What life with Scully looks like

Scully is a extra-large young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Scully, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Scully?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Scully on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Scully if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Scully already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Scully isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Scully and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
