Adopt Timo m.

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Timo is 4 years old, of medium size, and comes from a place of horrors, where dozens of dogs lived unattended, struggling to survive in an open-air enclosure with almost no human contact and no knowledge of the outside world. We have already taken in several from that place. He didn't arrive with physical injuries but did have many emotional ones. He was genuinely terrified of anything that wasn't another dog: people, noises. Slowly, he has improved, though he still lacks confidence. He can recover better in a home, but with patience, love, and lots of treats (which he adores), he has begun to discover that not all people are so scary. He is a calm, balanced, dog-friendly, and noble-hearted dog. With patience and love, the wonderful dog he is will shine through. He will need a patient and respectful family to help him continue to progress. If you have experience with fearful dogs or another dog to accompany him, that would be ideal. Timo is looking for a second chance to learn that the world can also be a beautiful place. Leishmania test positive. Already neutered. 4 Idexx test (Ehrlichia, Heartworm, Anaplasma, and borrelia) negative.

Test 4 Idexx (ehrlichia, filaria, anaplasma y borrelia) negativo. Mostrar más de su historia Mostrar menos

About Timo m.

What life with Timo m. looks like

Timo m. is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ALBA Protectora Madrid in Madrid.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timo m., answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timo m.?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ALBA Protectora Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timo m. on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timo m. if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ALBA Protectora Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timo m. already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timo m. isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ALBA Protectora Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timo m. and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
