Adopt Trixi

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten

Sponsors needed Trixi was born in 2013 and lost her home after the new family dog attacked another cat. For the safety of everyone, she had to leave. For a sensitive cat soul, this is a world breaking moment. Since 2023, Trixi has been living in a loving foster home with other cats. There she shows her true nature: she is a calm, incredibly cuddly cat who enjoys every gentle touch and can fill a whole room with her purring. She loves cozy places, friendly voices, and people who take time for her. Unfortunately, Trixi also has a health challenge. Due to her overweight, she developed diabetes and now requires a lifelong insulin therapy. In addition, she needs special diet food and regular veterinary check-ups. All of this causes ongoing costs that we alone can hardly manage. Because Trixi is difficult to rehome due to her illness and age, we are urgently looking for kind godmothers and godfathers who can support her financially. With a sponsorship, you help ensure her medical care and enable her to continue living safely in her foster home. back 19. About Trixi

What life with Trixi looks like

Trixi is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Peine in Peine.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trixi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trixi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Peine handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trixi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trixi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Peine will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trixi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trixi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Peine early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trixi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
