Adopt Tweety

Male

Tweety – cheerful canary seeking companionship &; Tweety is a male canary who came to us as a found animal. Unfortunately, his exact age is not known – but one thing is certain: Tweety does not want to be alone and wishes for a species-appropriate home in the company of fellow animals. Canaries are very social creatures that only truly feel comfortable in a flock or at least with a partner. Therefore, Tweety will only be rehomed to other canaries, where he can chirp, observe, and simply be a bird. We are looking for a lovingly designed home for him with ample space to fly, places to retreat, and a species-appropriate environment where he can feel safe and content. To ensure that Tweety finds a suitable home, we ask interested parties to bring photos of the future enclosure or aviary to the meet-and-greet appointment. Tweety is a little feathered friend who is looking forward to a home where he can once again experience companionship, security, and joy. &;&; If you are seriously interested, please contact us to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment.

About Tweety

What life with Tweety looks like

Tweety is a small adult bird waiting at Wally-Bangert-Tierheim Lohr am Main in Germany.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tweety, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tweety?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Wally-Bangert-Tierheim Lohr am Main handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tweety on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tweety if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Wally-Bangert-Tierheim Lohr am Main will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tweety already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tweety isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Wally-Bangert-Tierheim Lohr am Main early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tweety and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
