Adopt TYSON

Rottweiler · Unknown

TYSON was dropped off with us because he reportedly bit his owner. We have heard different accounts about why the incident occurred. TYSON spent several years in a dog shelter, where another incident also took place, in which a caregiver was reportedly bitten. So far, TYSON has shown himself to be generally friendly and charming to everyone. He tends to ignore dogs. During walks, he can be dominant, but he is also very relaxed when he needs to let something go, and he is generally quite relaxed outdoors. In the run, he is happy to receive any attention, enjoys cuddling sessions, loves being brushed, and will even curl up on someone’s lap. He is very eager for food and treats, and he shows himself to be uncomplicated and friendly here as well. We are still trying to figure out what might have triggered the biting incidents, but so far, TYSON has only shown himself to be pushy but never aggressive in any situation. Given his breed and age, he has mild hip issues, which are naturally exacerbated by the lack of muscle. However, he currently shows no signs of this and only gets some supplements in his food but no medication yet. TYSON would therefore prefer to be placed in an apartment with a ground-level entrance or one with an elevator. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About TYSON

What life with TYSON looks like

TYSON is a adult rottweiler dog waiting at Animal welfare Rheiderland E. V. in Weener.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting TYSON, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TYSON?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal welfare Rheiderland E. V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TYSON on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TYSON if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal welfare Rheiderland E. V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TYSON already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TYSON isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal welfare Rheiderland E. V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know TYSON and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
