Petal, buldógr, přišla do Hotelu jako bezdomovec. Byla velmi přehromaděná (téměř 30 kg!) a měla velkou nosovou záhyb, která byla nápadná a ovlivňovala její schopnost dýchat. Bohužel Petal byla chována takto bez ohledu na její zdraví a pohodu. Velké nosové záhyby mohou ovlivnit dýchání psa, vidění a mohou se bolestivě infikovat. Tito psi nejsou "krásní" - trpí. Po svém prvním návštěvě u veterináře Hotelu bylo rozhodnuto, že nosová záhyb musí být odstraněna, ale potřebovala zhubnout několik kilo, aby mohla bezpečně podstoupit anestézii. Prvním krokem na cestě k dobrému zdraví bylo dostat se na stravu a plán fyzické aktivity! Bohužel kombinace jejího plochého obličeje a horkého počasí znamenalo, že to byl pomalý proces, ale v tom čase si užívala spoustu krátkých procházek s našimi dobrovolníky. Jakmile Petal dosáhla zdravější váhy, byla operována naším veterinářem. Rozdíl byl obrovský! Nyní může dýchat mnohem lépe a začíná užít procházky, zatímco se zotavuje. Psi jako Petal by nikdy neměli být chováni takto. Zde v Rescue Hotelu vidíme bezpočet psů, kteří jsou oběťmi špatného chovu, kde zachránce zůstávají vytěžovat důsledky. Vaše darování pomáhá zaplatit životměnné procedury jako u Petal, a pomáhá zvyšovat povědomí o dopadech nezákonného, neetického chovu.

Petal the bulldog arrived at the Hotel as a stray. She was very overweight (almost 30kg!) and had a large nasal fold that was smelly and affecting her ability to breathe. Unfortunately, Petal has been bred to look this way with no regard for her health and welfare. Large nasal folds can affect dog's breathing, sight, and can become painfully infected. These dogs aren't “cute” – they are suffering. After her first visit to the Hotel's vet, it was decided that the nasal fold needed to be removed, but she needed to lose some weight before she could safely go under anaesthetic. The first step in her journey to good health was to get on a diet and fitness plan! Unfortunately, the combination of her flat face and the hot weather meant that this was a slow process, but in the meantime she enjoyed lots of short walks with our volunteers. Once Petal had reached a healthier weight, she was operated on by our vet. The difference was huge! She can now breathe much better, and is starting to enjoy walks as she recovers. Dogs like Petal should have never been bred like this. Here at the Rescue Hotel, we see countless dogs that have been the victims of bad breeding, where rescues are left to deal with the consequences.
