Πέρυσι έφτασε στην πόρτα μας ένα πολύ δυστυχισμένο ψυχή, η Winnie η Γερμανική Σκυλότροφος. Η Winnie έφτασε στο Ξενοδοχείο ως καταγραμμένος αλλοδαπός και παρά τα πάντα που είχε διατρέξει, η Winnie θάρρος έβαλε την εμπιστοσύνη της σε εμάς, επιτρέποντας στην ομάδα μας να παρέχει τη φροντίδα και τη υποστήριξη που χρειαζόταν τόσο απελπισμένα. Ως πάντα, το Κέντρο Υγείας του Ξενοδοχείου Αναδόμησης και το προσωπικό του Καρντιφ Σκύλος Σπίτι εργάστηκαν μαζί για να δώσουν στην Winnie τη δεύτερη της ευκαιρία. Ξεκινήσαμε με τη θεραπεία της πολύ κακής φλεγμονής της και να την επαναφέρουμε σε υγιή βάρος. Επίσης θέλαμε να δείξουμε στην Winnie ότι ο κόσμος δεν χρειάζεται να είναι ένα φοβερό μέρος. Έτσι, η Winnie έκανε πολλές περιπλανήσεις με τους εθελοντές μας για να βοηθήσει να αυξήσει την αυτοπεποίθησή της στο δικό της ρυθμό. Μόλις η Winnie εγκρίθηκε από τον ιατρό μας, έφυγε για να υιοθετηθεί από μια υπέροχη οικογένεια που συνέχισε να τη βοηθά να αναπτύξει. Τώρα έξι μήνες αργότερα, έχουν κάνει ένα ανανεωμένο αναφορά για το πώς τα πάει, και δεν μπορούμε να είμαστε πιο ευχαριστημένοι! "Δεν πιστεύω ότι η Winnie είναι μαζί μας για 6 μήνες ήδη. Είχε καλά τακτοποιηθεί και έχει αλλάξει λίγο φυσικά από τότε που έφτασε - που είναι ευχάριστο να δεις αλλά είναι ακόμα τόσο χαριτωμένη και απλή όπως πάντα. Είναι πολύ πιο αυτοπεποίθηση, αλλά δε θα μπει στον κήπο μόνη της. Απλά καθόταν και περίμενε να την συνοδεύσει κάποιος, και αν χαθεί έξω από τη θέση της - αν και μπορεί να είναι ακόμα έξω μαζί της - ξεκινάει αμέσως μέσα. Αλλά τα παιχνίδια στον κήπο είναι γεμάτα ενθουσιασμό και πράξεις. Αποφεύγει πάντα το νερό - είτε το σωλήνα ή μια μικρή πισίνα αλλά δεν παραπονιέται ποτέ για τα μηνιαία της μεταχειρισμούς. Αγαπά τις οδικές εκδρομές στο αυτοκίνητο, όχι σημασία αν είναι μακρύς ή σύντομος και αν δεν έχει ξανακάνει ταξίδι σε μερικές μέρες, θα καθίσει κοντά στο αυτοκίνητο και να περιμένει, με μάτια κατσαρίτσας και κεφάλι στραμμένο." "Η Winnie αγαπά τα ρουχαλιά και θα περάσει ευχαρίστως κοιμόμενη με το κεφάλι της στο πόδι σας. Είναι η αγαπημένη των φίλων και της οικογένειας, αγαπά τις περιπλανήσεις και πηγαίνει τακτικά σε προπόνηση με τα φίλα της σκύλα. Έχει πολλή προσοχή πού κι αν πάει και την αντιμετωπίζει χωρίς αποτροπή. Το κελί της είναι ακόμα το ασφαλές της θέση, τα τρόφιμα θα τα πάρει εκεί να τα φάει ή να τα αποθηκεύσει για αργότερα. Συνήθως βρίσκεται στο καναπέ της ή στο κελί αν δεν ακολουθεί τη μαμά ή κάποιον με τρόφιμα. Είναι ευαίσθητη στο φαγητό

Last year a very sad soul arrived on our doorstep, Winnie the German Shepherd. Winnie arrived at the Hotel as a stray and despite everything she had been through, Winnie bravely placed her trust in us, allowing our team to provide the care and support she so desperately needed. As always, The Rescue Hotel Health Centre and the staff at Cardiff Dog’s Home worked together to give Winnie her second chance. We began by starting treatment for Winnie’s very bad skin and getting her back to a healthy weight. We also wanted to show Winnie that the world didn’t have to be a scary place anymore. So, Winnie went on plenty of adventures with our volunteers to help build her confidence at her own pace. Once Winnie was signed off by our vet, she went on to be adopted by a wonderful family who have continued to help her grow. Now six months on, they have kindly given us an update on how she is doing, and we could not be more pleased! “Can’t believe that Winnie has been with us for 6 months already. She has settled in very well and has physically changed a bit since she arrived – which is wonderful to see but is still as sweet and gentle as ever. She is more confident generally, but she will not go in the garden on her own. She just sits and waits to be accompanied, and if you disappear out of her sight- although you might still be outside with her- she runs straight back inside. But garden playtimes are full of zoomies and shenanigans. She will stay well clear of water- whether it’s the hose pipe or a little paddling pool but never complains about her monthly medicated baths. She absolutely loves car rides, doesn’t matter how long or short and if she hasn’t been for a ride in a few days, she will sit by the car and wait, with puppy eyes and head tilts.” “Winnie loves cuddles and will happily fall asleep with her head on your lap. She is a favourite with friends and family, loves her adventures and goes training regularly with her doggy friends. She certainly gets lots of attention wherever she goes and takes it all in her stride. Her crate is still her safe place, any treats will be taken there to be eaten or left for later. She is usually found on her sofa or in the crate if not shadowing mum or anyone with food. She is food orientated, but who can blame her given how she arrived at the Rescue Hotel! She has mastered new tricks but catching is certainly not for her! She will watch the treats, balls or toys land and then go and investigate. Winnie really is a very special girl, and we are so very lucky to have her as part of our family. Needless to say she is so loved and spoilt rotten!” We are incredibly grateful to Winnie’s family for sharing such a touching update with us. It’s clear that Winnie has found her perfect home.
