Winnie llegó al Hotel como una perra perdida y a pesar de todo lo que había vivido, Winnie confió en nosotros con valentía, permitiendo a nuestro equipo proporcionarle el cuidado y el apoyo que necesitaba desesperadamente. Como siempre, el Centro de Salud del Hotel de Rescate y el personal del Cardiff Dog's Home trabajaron juntos para darle a Winnie una segunda oportunidad. Comenzamos tratando la muy mala piel de Winnie y devolviéndola a un peso saludable. También queríamos mostrarle a Winnie que el mundo no tenía por qué ser un lugar aterrador. Así que Winnie hizo muchas aventuras con nuestros voluntarios para ayudarla a ganar confianza a su propio ritmo. Una vez que el veterinario le dio el visto bueno, fue adoptada por una familia maravillosa que ha continuado ayudándola a crecer. Ahora seis meses después, nos han dado amablemente una actualización sobre cómo está, y no podríamos estar más felices. "No puedo creer que Winnie lleve con nosotros seis meses ya. Se ha adaptado muy bien y ha cambiado físicamente un poco desde que llegó - es maravilloso verlo pero sigue siendo tan dulce y gentil como siempre. Es más segura en general, pero no entra al jardín sola. Simplemente se sienta y espera a que la acompañen, y si desapareces de su vista - aunque aún estés fuera con ella - corre directamente adentro. Pero las horas de juego en el jardín están llenas de saltos y travesuras. Ella se mantiene alejada del agua - ya sea de la manguera o de una pequeña piscina de agua, pero nunca se queja de sus baños medicados mensuales. Ama los paseos en coche, sin importar lo largos o cortos que sean y si no ha ido en unos días, se sienta junto al coche y espera, con ojos de cachorro y inclinaciones de cabeza." "A Winnie le encantan los abrazos y se acuesta feliz con la cabeza en tu regazo. Es favorita de amigos y familiares, ama sus aventuras y va regularmente a clases con sus amigas caninas. Seguramente recibe mucha atención dondequiera que vaya y lo acepta con calma. Su jaula sigue siendo su lugar seguro, cualquier premio se lo lleva allí para comerlo o dejarlo para más tarde. Normalmente se la encuentra en su sofá o en la jaula si no está siguiendo a mamá o a alguien con comida. Es orientada a la comida, pero ¿quién puede culparla dada la forma en que llegó al Hotel de Rescate! Ha aprendido nuevas habilidades pero cazar ciertamente no es para ella. Observa los premios, pelotas o juguetes y luego los investiga. Winnie realmente es una chica muy especial, y somos muy afortunados de tenerla como parte de nuestra familia. Last year a very sad soul arrived on our doorstep, Winnie the German Shepherd. Winnie arrived at the Hotel as a stray and despite everything she had been through, Winnie bravely placed her trust in us, allowing our team to provide the care and support she so desperately needed. As always, The Rescue Hotel Health Centre and the staff at Cardiff Dog’s Home worked together to give Winnie her second chance. We began by starting treatment for Winnie’s very bad skin and getting her back to a healthy weight. We also wanted to show Winnie that the world didn’t have to be a scary place anymore. So, Winnie went on plenty of adventures with our volunteers to help build her confidence at her own pace. Once Winnie was signed off by our vet, she went on to be adopted by a wonderful family who have continued to help her grow. Now six months on, they have kindly given us an update on how she is doing, and we could not be more pleased! “Can’t believe that Winnie has been with us for 6 months already. She has settled in very well and has physically changed a bit since she arrived – which is wonderful to see but is still as sweet and gentle as ever. She is more confident generally, but she will not go in the garden on her own. She just sits and waits to be accompanied, and if you disappear out of her sight- although you might still be outside with her- she runs straight back inside. But garden playtimes are full of zoomies and shenanigans. She will stay well clear of water- whether it’s the hose pipe or a little paddling pool but never complains about her monthly medicated baths. She absolutely loves car rides, doesn’t matter how long or short and if she hasn’t been for a ride in a few days, she will sit by the car and wait, with puppy eyes and head tilts.” “Winnie loves cuddles and will happily fall asleep with her head on your lap. She is a favourite with friends and family, loves her adventures and goes training regularly with her doggy friends. She certainly gets lots of attention wherever she goes and takes it all in her stride. Her crate is still her safe place, any treats will be taken there to be eaten or left for later. She is usually found on her sofa or in the crate if not shadowing mum or anyone with food. She is food orientated, but who can blame her given how she arrived at the Rescue Hotel! She has mastered new tricks but catching is certainly not for her! She will watch the treats, balls or toys land and then go and investigate. Winnie really is a very special girl, and we are so very lucky to have her as part of our family. Needless to say she is so loved and spoilt rotten!” We are incredibly grateful to Winnie’s family for sharing such a touching update with us. It’s clear that Winnie has found her perfect home.
