Adottare Winnie’s Happy Ever After

L'anno scorso un'anima molto triste è arrivata sulla nostra porta, Winnie il Pastore Tedesco. Winnie è arrivata all'Hotel come randagia e nonostante tutto ciò che aveva subito, Winnie ha fiduciosamente posto la sua fiducia in noi, permettendo al nostro team di offrirle le cure e il supporto che tanto necessitava. Come sempre, il Centro Sanitario Hotel di Soccorso e il personale del Cardiff Dog's Home hanno lavorato insieme per offrire a Winnie una seconda possibilità. Abbiamo iniziato con il trattamento per la pelle molto danneggiata di Winnie e per riportarla a un peso sano. Volevamo anche far capire a Winnie che il mondo non doveva più essere un posto spaventoso. Così, Winnie ha fatto tante avventure con i nostri volontari per aiutarla a costruire la sua fiducia al suo ritmo. Una volta che il nostro veterinario l'ha autorizzata, è stata adottata da una famiglia meravigliosa che ha continuato a supportarla nel crescere. Ora, sei mesi dopo, ci hanno gentilmente dato un aggiornamento su come sta e non potremmo essere più felici! "Non riesco a crederci, ma Winnie è con noi da sei mesi ormai. Si è ambientata molto bene e ha subito alcune modifiche fisiche da quando è arrivata - è bellissimo vederlo ma è sempre dolce e delicata come sempre. È più sicura in generale, ma non entra mai nel giardino da sola. Si siede e aspetta di essere accompagnata, e se scompari dalla sua vista - anche se potresti ancora essere fuori con lei - corre dritto dentro. Ma i momenti di gioco nel giardino sono pieni di corsate e scherzi. Evita completamente l'acqua - sia il tubo dell'acqua che un piccolo piscinetta - ma non si lamenta mai delle sue docce medicate mensili. Adora i viaggi in auto, non importa quanto siano lunghi o brevi e se non è andata per un po' di giorni, si siede accanto all'auto e aspetta, con gli occhietti da cucciolo e la testa inclinata." "Winnie ama i coccoloni e si addormenta volentieri con la testa sulle tue gambe. È un'attrazione per amici e famiglia, ama le sue avventure e va regolarmente a lezione con i suoi amici canini. Riceve tantissima attenzione ovunque vada e lo prende con calma. Il suo box è ancora il suo luogo sicuro, qualsiasi premio lo porterà lì per mangiarlo o lasciarlo per dopo. Di solito la troverai sul divano o nel box se non sta seguendo mamma o chiunque abbia cibo. È orientata verso il cibo, ma chi può biasimarla considerando come è arrivata al Rescue Hotel! Ha imparato nuove mosse ma il lancio non è certo per lei! Guarda i premi, palle o giocattoli che cadono e poi va ad esplorarli. Winnie è veramente una ragazza molto speciale e siamo così fortunati ad averla come parte della nostra famiglia. Dopotutto, è molto amata e viziata!" Siamo estremamente grati alla famiglia di Winnie per aver condiviso questo toccante aggiornamento con noi. È chiaro che Winnie ha trovato la sua casa perfetta. Last year a very sad soul arrived on our doorstep, Winnie the German Shepherd. Winnie arrived at the Hotel as a stray and despite everything she had been through, Winnie bravely placed her trust in us, allowing our team to provide the care and support she so desperately needed. As always, The Rescue Hotel Health Centre and the staff at Cardiff Dog’s Home worked together to give Winnie her second chance. We began by starting treatment for Winnie’s very bad skin and getting her back to a healthy weight. We also wanted to show Winnie that the world didn’t have to be a scary place anymore. So, Winnie went on plenty of adventures with our volunteers to help build her confidence at her own pace. Once Winnie was signed off by our vet, she went on to be adopted by a wonderful family who have continued to help her grow. Now six months on, they have kindly given us an update on how she is doing, and we could not be more pleased! “Can’t believe that Winnie has been with us for 6 months already. She has settled in very well and has physically changed a bit since she arrived – which is wonderful to see but is still as sweet and gentle as ever. She is more confident generally, but she will not go in the garden on her own. She just sits and waits to be accompanied, and if you disappear out of her sight- although you might still be outside with her- she runs straight back inside. But garden playtimes are full of zoomies and shenanigans. She will stay well clear of water- whether it’s the hose pipe or a little paddling pool but never complains about her monthly medicated baths. She absolutely loves car rides, doesn’t matter how long or short and if she hasn’t been for a ride in a few days, she will sit by the car and wait, with puppy eyes and head tilts.” “Winnie loves cuddles and will happily fall asleep with her head on your lap. She is a favourite with friends and family, loves her adventures and goes training regularly with her doggy friends. She certainly gets lots of attention wherever she goes and takes it all in her stride. Her crate is still her safe place, any treats will be taken there to be eaten or left for later. She is usually found on her sofa or in the crate if not shadowing mum or anyone with food. She is food orientated, but who can blame her given how she arrived at the Rescue Hotel! She has mastered new tricks but catching is certainly not for her! She will watch the treats, balls or toys land and then go and investigate. Winnie really is a very special girl, and we are so very lucky to have her as part of our family. Needless to say she is so loved and spoilt rotten!” We are incredibly grateful to Winnie’s family for sharing such a touching update with us. It’s clear that Winnie has found her perfect home.
