Mila es una perra mestiza de Gran Danés, que ya lleva mucho tiempo esperando un hogar para siempre... Ella se encuentra en un pequeño refugio de La Sonrisa Peluda, donde el cuidador está haciendo un excelente trabajo socializándola con otros perros e introduciéndola a la vida en un hogar. Mila es social con todos los tipos de perros diferentes, pero debido a su tamaño y fuerza puede ser un poco brusca sin querer con perros más pequeños o delicados, y le encantaría vivir con un perro equilibrado, mediano o grande, que no sea muy invasivo, un perro seguro, tranquilo, pero también un poco juguetón sería un gran compañero para Mila. También podría ser el único perro de un hogar, sin embargo, el contacto positivo regular con otros perros sería perfecto para continuar con su buena socialización. Mila es una perra activa, muy cariñosa, aunque los primeros años de su vida los pasó tristemente atada y aislada. En el refugio de La Sonrisa Peluda, fue bien socializada tanto con humanos como con perros, y está muy lista para su hogar para siempre. Se acostumbró a la vida en el campo, y nunca ha estado en la ciudad, ni cerca de zonas de vida urbana como el tráfico, camiones, bicicletas, etc. Normalmente camina bien en la correa, lo cual es genial para un perro de este tamaño, al mismo tiempo que también es curiosa, así que cuando ve algo muy interesante, probablemente tirará un poco de la correa para llegar al objeto interesante. Dentro del hogar Mila es una buena perra. Como es una perra grande y curiosa, le encantaría vivir en un hogar donde no haya muchos jarrones de porcelana y cristal ni decoraciones alrededor, de lo contrario sería como un elefante en una tienda de porcelana. Idealmente le encantaría vivir en una casa tipo granja o en una casa rústica con espacio exterior y cercanía a la naturaleza. Aunque Mila no hace mucho drama con los gatos ni intenta perseguirlos directamente, todavía busca un hogar sin gatos para la tranquilidad de todos. Con los humanos es muy amable y cariñosa, de hecho, un poco demasiado cariñosa, así que seguramente los humanos para siempre de Mila deberían buscar un perro que le guste estar en contacto físico con los humanos, y humanos que puedan establecer algunas líneas rojas: cuando respondemos a cada petición de atención y cercanía de un perro, estamos creando más ansiedad y nerviosismo, ya que el perro ve que siempre cuando pide, recibe, y así siempre estarán alerta buscando más atención. Establecer límites y decir "no" a cosas como seguir al humano por todas partes, pedir atención durante ciertas actividades, etc., permitirá al perro relajarse sabiendo que ahora es "no". También es muy motivada por comida, así que es fácil entrenarla y trabajar con refuerzo positivo, para ayudarla a ganar confianza en situaciones nuevas, ya que es un poco ansiosa, proveniente de un pasado triste. Las debilidades de Mila son robar comida cuando queda sin atención, y cuando recibe mucha atención, puede volverse demasiado emocionada, sin embargo el equipo del refugio y su cuidador ayudarán a su humano a establecer límites y dirigir su energía en la dirección correcta. Mila is a Great Dane mixed girl, who is waiting for a forever home already a long time... She is located in a small shelter of La Sonrisa Peluda, where the caretaker is doing a great job socialising her with other dogs and introducing her to a home life. Mila is social with all kinds of different dogs, just that with her size and strength she can unintentionally be a bit rough for smaller or delicate dogs, and she would love to live together with a balanced, medium or big size dog, who is not very invasive, a confident, calm, but also a bit playful dog would be a great companion for Mila. She could also be an only dog of a home, however regular positive canine contact would of course be great, to continue her being so nicely social. Mila is an active dog, very loving girl, even though the first years of her life she very sadly spent chained up and isolated. In the shelter of La Sonrisa Peluda, she was well socialised both with humans and with dogs, and she is very ready for her forever home! She is used to the countryside, and has not been to the city, or around parts of citylife like traffic, trucks, bicycles etc. She usually walks well on the leash, which is great for this size of a dog, at the same time she is also curious, so when she seems something very interesting, she probably will be pulling on the leash a bit to get to the interesting object. Inside the home Mila is a good girl! Since she is a big and curious girl, then Mila would love to live in a home where there are not too many porcelain and glass vases and decorations around, otherwise she would be like an elephant in a porcelain shop! Ideally she would love to live in a farm-type of a home, or a rustic house with outdoors space, and closeness to nature. Even though Mila does not make a big drama about cats or try to chase them directly, she is still looking for a home without cats for everyone’s peace of mind. With humans she is very kind and loving, actually a bit overly loving, so for sure Mila’s forever humans should be looking for a dog that likes to be in physical contact with humans, and also humans who are able to set some boundaries - when we respond to every request for attention and closeness from a dog, we are actually creating more anxiety and nervousness, as the dog sees that always when they demand, they will receive, and this way, they will always be alert for more attention. Setting boundaries and saying “no” for things like following the human around, asking for attention during certain activities etc - will allow the dog to relax, knowing that now it is a “no”. She is also very food-motivated, so it is easy to train her and work wth positive reinforcement, to help grow her confidence in a new situation, as she is a bit anxious, coming from a sad past. Mila's shortcomings are stealing food when it is left unattended, and when she receives a lot of attention, she can get overly excited, however the shelter team and her caretaker will help her human set boundaries and direct her energy in a positive direction. Her shoulder height is approximately 65cm, her weight between 32-35kilos. She has already been tested for Mediterranean diseases in the past and she seems to be free of any.
