15-08-26 Toby is a really handsome boy who originally came to us from a home where his owners landlord would not allow him to stay. He was then adopted into a loving home where he spent five happy years, but sadly his owner has since passed away and Toby has found himself back with us. He is the sweetest boy. He is a little shell-shocked to find himself here but he is taking everything in his stride. He is still quite a shy boy, but once he knows you he will approach you to ask for cuddles and really enjoys some affection. He would benefit from adopters who have experience with rescue dogs. We are told by his previous owner's family that Toby has good recall and is a very faithful dog who forms strong bonds with his people. He is very good with both dogs and people. Toby has previously lived happily as an only dog and would be very happy to have his new home all to himself, but he is also sharing his kennel well with another dog and could be homed with another kind, well mannered dog. As Toby has come to us from a home, he will already be familiar with the sights and sounds of home life. He is house trained and walks well on a lead, so his new family will have a nice head start. We are told that he can bark when visitors come to the home, but if you call him away for a tasty treat he will settle. Toby is an active boy who needs plenty of exercise. He is used to having one long walk each day, usually lasting around an hour to an hour and a half, as well as another half-hour walk in the evening. Even after all of that, he can still have plenty of energy! His new home will need to be able to offer him a similar level of exercise and plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the world. Toby would love a home where there are lots of walks and adventures to be had. He is a Collie cross and will need adopters who can keep his mind and body busy, but in return he has so much love and loyalty to give. Toby could share his home with dog-savvy teenagers who can appreciate and understand that he will need a gentle, quiet introduction to the home and his own space to settle in. More than anything, Toby just wants to be back in a home with someone to love and who will love him in return. After already losing his owner and finding himself back in kennels, we hope his next home will be his forever one. He really is a lovely boy who would be very happy to have a person of his own again. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
