Adoptar a Kamille

Dos pequeñas niñas llegaron al refugio, muy temblorosas y asustadas, sin microchip, pero sorprendentemente en muy buen estado físico, ¡nos sorprendimos! Normalmente cuando recibimos perros del tipo Podenco, suelen llegar en mal estado, desnutridos, etc., pero Kamille y Petunia estaban bien físicamente. Después del primer shock, comenzaron rápidamente a confiar en el personal y voluntarios, y ahora hacen piruetas, con la cola cayéndose por moverse tan feliz y rápido, cuando ven a personas que les gustan y se acercan a ellas. Primero pensamos que eran hermanas, pero el veterinario dice que según los dientes, Petunia parece tener un año más que Kamille, así que tal vez madre e hija, pero creemos que están relacionadas. Son muy cariñosas entre sí, se cuidan mutuamente. Kamille es muy pequeña y aún un poco tímida, pero muy acurrucable una vez que te conoce un poco, y le encanta esconderse bajo tu axila y dormir a tu lado. Kamille también ama esconderse en una pila de almohadas y mantas, así que su hogar para siempre debe preparar montañas de cosas suaves, donde pueda saltar y esconderse felizmente. Debe haber sido traumatizada por las correas, porque la primera prueba de llevarla a caminar con una correa terminó en un dramático estado de pánico total, con ella gritando y corriendo por las paredes, así que tuvimos que hacerlo lentamente, primero con un collar suelto, luego con un arnés de seguridad, y evitamos poner sensaciones de presión aplastante en su cuello, ya que parece ser la fuente del trauma. Petunia está mucho más relajada con la correa, lo que ayuda a Kamille a seguirla. Una vez en el parque canino, vuelven a estar tan vivas y felices, saltando como pequeños ciervos entre los arbustos, buscando ratones y insectos, como lo hacen normalmente los Podencos. Ambas son muy motivadas por la comida, así que es fácil llamar su atención y realizar ejercicios con las chicas. Por supuesto sería realmente maravilloso si pudieran encontrar un hogar juntas, sin embargo, durante algún tiempo, estamos seguros de que podrían ser adoptadas por separado, siempre que el hogar adoptivo ya tenga uno o más perros en casa. Mientras que Petunia podría ser feliz como un solo perro en un área tranquila y calmada (todavía, preferiblemente con otros perros), Kamille absolutamente, con certeza, necesita a otros perros en la familia para orientarse. Two little girls arrived to the shelter, so shaky and scared, without a microchip, but surprisingly in a very good physical condition, we were surprised! Usually when we receive Podenco type of dogs, they normally arrive in bad conditions, starved etc, but Kamille & Petunia were fine physically. After the first shock, they very quickly started to trust the staff and volunteers, and by now they make sommersaults, with their tails falling off from wiggling so happy and fast, when they see people they like, approaching them. First we thought maybe they are sisters, but the veterinary says that according to the teeth, Petunia seems to be a year older than Kamille, so maybe mother & daughter, but we believe they are related. They are very affectionate with each other, care for one another. Kamille is very petite, and still a bit shy, but very cuddly once she knows you a bit, and she loves to hide under your armpit and fall asleep next to you. Kamille also loves to hide herself in a pile of pillows and blankets, so her forever home should prepare piles of soft stuff, where she can happily jump into and hide. She must have been traumatized by leashes, because the first try to take her for a walk on a leash, ended in a dramatic full panic mode, with her screaming and running up the walls, so we had to take it slow, and first start with a loose collar, then with a security harness, and we avoid putting strangling type of pressure feeling on her neck, as that were the trauma seems to come from. Petunia is much more relaxed on the leash, and that helps Kamille, to follow her. Once they are in the dog park, they are so alive and happy again, jumping like little deer between the bushes, looking for mice and bugs, like normal Podencos. They are both very food motivated, so it is easy to get their attention, and promote and do exercises with the girls. Of course it would be really wonderful if they could find a home together, however over some period of time, we are sure they could very well be adopted separately, providing that the adoptive home already has one or more dogs at home. While Petunia could potentially also be happy as a single dog in a quiet, calm area (still, preferably with other dogs), then Kamille absolutely, for sure, needs other dogs in the family to orientate herself. Kamille's shoulder height is 42cm, and Petunia is 46cm.
