Adoptar a Ralph

Nuestro guapo chico Ralph, ¿por dónde empezar con su historia? Ralph fue rescatado en marzo de 2021 de un refugio de matanza en Rumanía. Fue adoptado poco después pero fue devuelto 12 días más tarde. Ralph era un chico muy nervioso y necesitaba tiempo para adaptarse y sentirse seguro, algo que lamentablemente no le dieron. Pronto se le ofreció un lugar en otro refugio, ya que creían que sería adoptado rápidamente y esto nos daría espacio para rescatar a otro perro que enfrentaba la eutanasia. Desafortunadamente, Ralph fue ignorado una y otra vez y pasó mucho tiempo en ese otro refugio. Decidieron darle otra oportunidad en otro lugar y sabían que prosperaría en un entorno diferente con muchos otros perros con los que jugar. Ralph se volvió muy cercano al personal y comenzó a ser un poco travieso con los otros perros, advirtiéndoles y no permitiéndoles acercarse a sus amigos humanos. Este comportamiento comenzó a empeorar y así Ralph regresó a Oakwood para ver si podía reiniciarse y disfrutar nuevamente de estar con perros. Hasta ahora ha hecho muchas amistades caninas que ama pasar el día con ellas, pero no interactuamos con él mientras está con ellas para evitar que surjan problemas anteriores. Ralph permanecerá con nosotros por un futuro próximo y estaremos activamente buscando la mejor casa de retiro para él. Ralph nunca ha tenido su propia casa y familia antes, lo cual es simplemente desgarrador, por lo que necesitamos asegurarnos de encontrar la casa perfecta para siempre para él. ¿Podría ser usted? Ralph siempre ha sido excelente con otros perros, sin embargo, se le ha conocido que advierte a otros perros cuando está cerca de personas que ama. Absolutamente podrá tener amigos caninos cuando esté en una casa, pero debido a los comportamientos observados en el refugio anterior, no podemos adoptarlo a una casa donde ya vivan otros perros. Ralph no ha sido probado con gatos, sin embargo, como tuvo problemas con otros perros alrededor de sus personas, no arriesgaríamos la seguridad de un gato colocándolo en una casa con uno, ya que es probable que también le dijera algo a un gato. Ralph ha mostrado niveles moderados de energía. Ralph no muestra señales de ansiedad por la separación, sin embargo, su tiempo solo en una casa debe aumentarse gradualmente para asegurar que se sienta seguro antes de dejarlo solo por períodos más largos. Our handsome boy Ralph, where do we start with his story.. Ralph was rescued back in March 2021 from a kill shelter in Romania. He was adopted shortly afterwards but was returned 12 days later. Ralph was a very nervous boy and he needed time to settle in and feel safe, something that he sadly he was not given. Shortly afterwards, he was offered a place at a different rescue as they believed that he'd be snapped up quickly and this would give us a space to rescue another dog that was facing euthanasia. Unfortunately, Ralph was overlooked time and time again and spent a very long time at this other rescue. They decided to give him another chance elsewhere and knew he'd thrive in a different environment with lots of new dogs to play with. Ralph became very attached to the staff and started being a bit naughty with the other dogs, warning them off and not letting them near his human friends. This behaviour started getting worse and so Ralph came back to Oakwood to see if he could reset himself and start enjoying being around dogs again. So far, he has made lots of dog friends that he loves spending his days with but we don't interact with him whilst he is with them just to prevent any previous issues from arising. Ralph will be staying with us for the foreseeable future and we will actively be looking for the best retirement home for him. Ralph has never had his own home and family before which is just heart breaking so we need to make sure we find the perfect forever home for him. Could this be you? Ralph has always been amazing with other dogs however he has been known to warn off other dogs when he is around people that he loves. He will absolutely be able to have dog friends when in a home but from the behaviours that have been witnessed at the previous rescue, we are unable to adopt him to a home with other dogs already residing there. Ralph is untested with cats however, as he had issues with other dogs around his people, we wouldn't risk a cats safety by placing him in a home with one as it is likely he would also tell a cat off too. Ralph has shown to have moderate energy levels. Ralph doesn't show any signs of separation anxiety however his time alone in a home should be slowly built up to ensure he feels safe before he is left alone for longer periods Ralph is not yet lead trained, we will start working on this once he has settled in
