Preciosa Tikka ha llegado a nosotros de un criador y ahora busca su hogar para siempre. Cuando Tikka llegó a nosotros, nuestros veterinarios notaron que tenía luxación de la rótula en ambas patas traseras, lo que le hacía caminar con una postura similar a la de un cangrejo. Le realizaron una cirugía de transposición del tubérculo tibial bilateral por un especialista, de la cual se recuperó maravillosamente y ahora está lista para encontrar su hogar para siempre. Cuando Tikka llegó por primera vez, estaba muy cerrada y abrumada por el mundo que la rodeaba. Aún no entendía que las manos humanas podían ser amables y a menudo trataba de ocultarse. Desde entonces, Tikka ha tenido buen progreso y está intentando ser valiente y se ha convertido en una dama muy segura cuando está con sus compañeras de jaula. Aun así, sigue teniendo miedo de ser manipulada y no le gusta que la levanten, pero cada día sale más de su concha. A pesar de sus preocupaciones, es feliz siguiéndote y es una niña muy curiosa. Las mañanas son su momento favorito del día y se ilumina al ver a sus cuidadores y se anima completamente cuando aparecen sus juguetes en su jaula. Es esencial que tenga al menos otro perro amable y seguro en su nuevo hogar para ser su amigo y guía, ayudándola a sentirse segura y mostrándole el camino mientras aprende sobre la vida en casa. Nunca ha vivido en un hogar antes, por lo que necesitará paciencia y apoyo mientras se adapta y aprende nuevas habilidades como el entrenamiento en casa. Podría compartir su hogar con adolescentes que entiendan que ella necesitará una introducción suave y tranquila al hogar y su propio espacio para adaptarse. Tikka disfruta pasar tiempo en nuestro patio y ahora hemos comenzado a explorar más allá dentro del refugio. Ahora que se ha recuperado de su cirugía, ha comenzado a entrenar con arnés en áreas seguras en los terrenos del refugio. Tikka es un alma preciosa con mucho potencial. Beautiful Tikka has come to us from a breeder and is now searching for her forever home. When Tikka arrived with us, our vets noted that she had patella luxation in both hind legs, which was causing her to walk with a crab-like gait. She had bilateral Tibial Tuberosity Transposition surgery performed by a specialist, which she has recovered beautifully from and is now ready to find her forever home. When Tikka first arrived, she was very shut down and overwhelmed by the world around her. She didn’t yet understand that human hands could be kind and would often try to hide herself away. Since then, Tikka has made good progress and is trying so hard to be brave and has turned into a sassy little lady when she is around her kennel friends. She is still quite worried about being handled and isn't a fan of being picked up, but she is coming out of her shell more every day. Despite her worries, she is happy to follow you around and is a very curious little girl. Mornings are her favourite time of day, and she lights up when she sees her carers and absolutely comes to life when her toys appear in her kennel. Tikka adores her toys and shows off her playful side straight away, though she does like to give them a good nibble, so tough toys will be a must for this clever girl. Tikka will need a calm, quiet home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs. It is essential that she has at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to be her friend and guide, helping her feel safe and showing her the way as she learns about home life. She has never lived in a home before, so she will need patience and support as she settles in and learns new skills like house training. She could share her home with dog-savvy teenagers who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle, quiet introduction to the home and her own space to settle in. Tikka enjoys spending time in our yard and so we have started venturing further afield within the rescue. Now that she has recovered from her surgery, she has begun harness training within secure areas on the rescue grounds. Tikka is a precious soul with so much potential. She may always be a little cautious, but with love, patience, and gentle encouragement, she will blossom. Watching her grow in confidence and show her playful side has been such a joy, now she just needs someone to give her the chance she truly deserves. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
