Topps llegó con nosotros de un criador y, al principio, era una niña muy preocupada y desactivada. Todo le resultaba abrumador y el contacto humano le parecía muy aterrador, ya que aún no entendía cómo podían ser las manos tiernas y cariñosas. Con el tiempo, la paciencia y la bondad, Topps ha empezado a florecer y ya ha hecho un progreso maravilloso. Desde ladrarle a su mamá de la jaula y no tener interés en las personas, ahora se siente cómoda sentándose cerca, aceptando golosinas, dando suaves toques con la nariz y hasta compartiendo pequeños besos. Recientemente ha comenzado a aceptar caricias suaves en las orejas cuando se siente valiente, un gran paso para ella. Topps ahora está en un hogar de acogida, donde comienza a aprender todo sobre la vida en casa y nuevas habilidades como el entrenamiento para hacer sus necesidades dentro de casa por primera vez. En el hogar, todavía es un poco nerviosa mientras se adapta a su nuevo entorno. A pesar de esto, pasará tiempo en la misma habitación que sus cuidadores, seguirá felizmente para comer o salir afuera, y se siente cómoda moviéndose por toda la casa. Aunque se acerca a sus cuidadores con la animación de su amigo canino o con la ayuda de una golosina, en ocasiones evitará el contacto cercano. Sin embargo, sigue teniendo una cola muy movida y gana mucha confianza con sus amigos peludos. A Topps le queda camino por recorrer y necesitará un hogar con adultos experimentados donde pueda seguir construyendo su confianza a su propio ritmo. Debe tener al menos un perro residente amable y seguro, quien jugará un papel importante mostrándole el camino y ayudándola a sentirse segura. Un jardín seguro es esencial para ella mientras sigue aprendiendo a caminar con correa y el entrenamiento para hacer sus necesidades en casa. Topps tolerará ser manipulada para revisiones o para ponerle la correa, pero es cautelosa y necesita manejo lento y tranquilización. Esta linda chica puede estar asustada al principio en su nuevo hogar, pero con paciencia, tranquilización y amor, tiene todas las posibilidades de florecer aún más en el perro feliz y contento que siempre fue destinada a ser. Topps ya nos ha mostrado lo que es capaz de hacer; ahora solo necesita que alguien le dé una oportunidad y le ofrezca el hogar para siempre que tanto merece. Nuestro veterinario ha notado un ligero chasquido en la articulación de su rodilla izquierda durante la palpación. Esto actualmente no le causa ningún dolor y no requiere tratamiento en este momento, pero podría necesitar monitoreo en el futuro. Recomendamos estar atentos a saltos excesivos en y fuera de muebles u otras movidas bruscas. Ejercicios suaves para ayudar a fortalecer y mantener los músculos, como caminatas controladas y subir y bajar bordillos, serán beneficiosos. Este perro puede ser rescatado con un perro residente.

Topps arrived with us from a breeder and, at first, was an extremely worried and shut-down little girl. Everything was overwhelming for her, and she found human contact very frightening, as she didn’t yet understand how gentle and loving hands could be. With time, patience, and kindness, Topps has started to blossom and has already made such wonderful progress. From barking at her kennel mummy and wanting little to do with people, she now feels comfortable sitting close, taking treats, giving sweet nose nudges, and even sharing little kisses. She has recently begun to accept gentle ear tickles when she is feeling brave, a huge step for her! Topps has now moved to a foster home, where she is starting to learn all about home life and new skills like house training for the first time. In the home, she is still a little nervous as she adjusts to her new environment. Despite this, she will spend time in the same room as her carers, happily follow for food or to venture outside, and is comfortable moving throughout the home. Although she approaches her carers with encouragement from her canine friend or the help of a treat, she will avoid close contact at times. However, she is still very waggy-tailed and really gains confidence from her furry friends. Topps still has a way to go and will need an experienced, adult-only home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She must have at least one kind and confident resident dog, who will play an important role in showing her the ropes and helping her feel safe. A secure garden is essential for her as she continues to learn about lead walking and house training. Topps will tolerate being handled for check overs or to have her harness put on, but she is wary and needs slow handling and reassurance. This lovely girl may be worried at first in her new home, but with patience, reassurance, and love, she has every chance of blossoming further into the happy, content little dog she was always meant to be. Topps has already shown us what she is capable of; now she just needs someone to take a chance on her and give her the forever home she so truly deserves. Our vet has noted a slight click in her left stifle joint on palpation. This is not currently causing her any discomfort and does not require treatment at this time, but it may need monitoring in the future. We recommend being mindful of excessive jumping on and off furniture or other jarring movements. Gentle exercises to help build and maintain muscle, such as controlled walking and stepping up and down kerbs, will be beneficial. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
