Wilma terminó en nuestra custodia debido a un apelo urgente de una organización benéfica llamada Pawprints to Freedom [PPTF]. Estaba viviendo en un refugio en Rumanía, era muy abrumador, ruidoso y aterrador. Cuando Wilma llegó con ellos por primera vez, se dijo que era amigable con las personas y incluso lograron colocarle un arnés y dejarla disfrutar afuera del refugio por un momento. Sin embargo, a medida que el refugio se volvía más ocupado, no podían dedicar tanto tiempo 1 a 1 con los perros. Cuando los voluntarios la visitaron un año después, estaba extremadamente miedosa y nunca salía de la seguridad de su fría, dura y de madera jaula. La única vez que sacaba la cabeza era para comer. Fue desgarrador ver la diferencia en ella desde la primera foto que enviaron. Wilma necesitará un hogar tranquilo con adoptantes pacientes y comprensivos mientras aprende a ser un perro nuevamente y disfrutar la vida. Wilma ha mostrado estar muy cómoda alrededor de otros perros. No interactuará sin embargo hasta que todos los humanos hayan salido. Ella tiene mucho miedo de los humanos y creemos que necesitará al menos otro perro en el hogar que sea amable con ella y le muestre cómo es. Como Wilma aún no puede ser manipulada / no puede llevar un collar y una correa, no hay manera segura para nosotros de probarla con gatos y por lo tanto necesitaremos buscar un hogar libre de gatos. Wilma muestra tener niveles moderados de energía. Wilma nunca ha vivido en un hogar antes, sin embargo, con la compañía de otro perro, creemos que podría estar bien si se la deja sola hasta 4-5 horas. Wilma está muy lejos de poder llevar un collar y una correa. Pasará mucho tiempo antes de que tenga suficiente confianza para caminar con una correa. Wilma no tiene ningún tipo de entrenamiento básico, esto vendrá con el tiempo una vez que se haya adaptado a su nuevo hogar y haya aprendido a confiar en sus adoptadores.

Wilma ended up in our care due to an urgent plea from a charity called Pawprints to Freedom . She was living in a shelter in Romania, it was very overcrowded, loud and scary. When Wilma first arrived with them, she was said to be friendly towards people and they were even able to get a harness on her and let her enjoy outside the shelter for a little while. As it got busier though, there can't be as much 1-1 time spent with the dogs. When volunteers visited her 1 year later, she was extremely fearful and would never leave the safety of her cold, hard, wooden kennel. The only time she'd pop her head out was for food. It was heart breaking to see the difference in her from the first picture they ever sent. Wilma will need a quiet home with patient and understanding adopters whilst she learns how to be a dog again and enjoy life. Wilma has shown to be very comfortable around dogs. She won't interact though until all humans have vacated. She's very fearful of humans and so we believe the she'll need at least one other dog in the home that would be kind to her and show her the ropes. As Wilma can not yet be handled / have a collar and lead put on her, there is no safe way for us to cat test her and so we will need to look for a cat free home for her. Wilma shows to have moderate energy levels Wilma has never lived in a home before however, with the company of another dog, we believe she could be ok to be left for up to 4-5 hours Wilma is a long way off being able to get a collar and lead on her. It will be a very long time until she is confident enough to walk on a lead. Wilma has no form of basic training, this will all come in time once she has settled into her new home and learns to trust her adopters.
