Xando fue encontrado por la policía vagando por ahí, con un microchip, delgado y con la piel de su cara en mal estado. Logramos contactarnos con el dueño registrado, quien aparentemente vive en una caravana y dijo que no quiere recuperar al perro, así que simplemente abandonó a su viejo perro. Xando es un hermoso pastor alemán clásico, con una espalda relativamente recta, sin caderas caídas y con pelaje largo negro y marrón. La piel alrededor de sus ojos estaba dañada debido a la inflamación prolongada, sin embargo ya se ha curado bien, solo que el pelo ya no crecerá realmente alrededor de sus ojos... tal vez en un hogar... Xando podría ser ya mayor, pero aún es activo y ama ir de aventuras con nuestros voluntarios. Xando camina muy bien en la correa, y en el refugio a menudo camina con voluntarios principiantes y familias. Ha jugado mucho al juego de atrapar en su vida y definitivamente lo ama, sin embargo recomendamos cambiar los juegos de atrapar por algo más suave para sus huesos envejecidos, un poco de excavación en tierra blanda, juegos de búsqueda, caminar en la arena, nadar: estos tipos de actividades serán mucho más saludables para Xando. Es encantador con las personas, le gusta que lo toquen y viene cuando lo llamas. También es motivado por la comida, lo cual es excelente para entrenarlo para una vida en conjunto. Es un chico muy inteligente y aprende muy rápido, así que seguramente se acostumbrará rápidamente a un nuevo entorno. También maneja muy bien en el automóvil, lo cual tiene sentido, ya que su anterior "humano" vivía en una caravana. Xando toma snacks un poco entusiastamente y tiene bastante energía para su edad, así que recomendamos Xando para hogares sin niños pequeños, y preferiblemente sin otros perros por ahora ya que no lo hemos probado para convivir con otros perros, sin embargo una hembra tranquila y social podría considerarse y el equipo del refugio realizaría las pruebas. En los paseos pasa otros perros tranquilamente, le interesa más a algunos que a otros, pero no hace drama, especialmente cuando está lejos del refugio. Le encanta hacer senderismo y es un excelente compañero para la vida cotidiana. Xando está en muy buena salud según podemos ver, y ha dado negativo en enfermedades mediterráneas, incluida la leishmaniosis. La altura de los hombros de Xando es aproximadamente 65 cm.

Xando was found by the police wandering around, with a microchip, skinny and with the skin on his face in bad condition. We were able to get in touch with the registered owner, who apparently lives in a caravan and said he doesn't want the dog back anymore, so he just abandoned his old dog. Xando is a beautiful old-school German Shephard, with a relatively straight back, no hanging hips, and a black-brown long fur. The skin around his eyes was damaged from being left with inflammation over a long period of time, however that has healed well - just the fur won't really grow back around his eyes anymore.... maybe in a home.... Xando might be already older, but he is still active and loves to go for adventures with our volunteers. Xando walks very well on the leash, and in the shelter he often walks with beginner volunteers and families. He has clearly been playing a lot of fetch in his life and he definitely loves it, however we would recommend switching the fetching games for something more smooth for his aging bones, a bit of soft soil digging, searching games, walking in the sand, swimming - these activities will be much healthier for Xando. He is lovely with humans, likes to be touched, and comes when you call him. He is also food-motivated so that's great for training him for a life together! He is a very very clever boy, and learns really quickly, so he will surely get used to a new environment quickly! He also drives very well in the car, which makes sense, since his previous "human" was living in a caravan. Xando takes snacks a bit enthusiastically and his is quite high energy for his age, so we would recommend Xando to homes without small children, and preferably without other dogs at the moment as we have not tested him for co-living with other dogs, however a calm, social female could be considered and the shelter team would carry out the tests. On the walks he passes other dogs calmly, is more interested in some than others, but makes no drama, especially when he is away from the shelter. He loves to go on hikes, and is an excellent companion for everyday life. Xando is in very good health as far as we can tell, and he is tested negative on Mediterranean diseases, including Leishmania. Xando's shoulder height is about 65cm.
