Hän oli kaunis, täynnä rakastusta, elämää ja henkistä. Usein sellainen koira, jonka voimme helposti siirtää uudelle kotiin. Kuitenkin Montyllä oli surullinen ongelma. Hänellä oli sydämentauti (filaria), joka on kauhean vakava ongelma, joka voi tappaa koiria. Se on erittäin yleinen täällä, mutta surullisin asia on, että se on erittäin helppo estää. Vuosittainen injektio tai kuukausittaiset pillit/kohokäsittely pitää heidät turvassa. Kuitenkin niin monta koiraa saapuu meille ongelmalla. Onko tämä tiedottomuuden, tietämättömyyden vai ihmisten huolimatonta? Emme tiedä... Jos jätetään hoitamatta, se on kuolemansyyn aiheuttaja. Kuitenkin onneksi koirilla, jotka pääsevät pelastusperheisiin, se on myös hoidettavissa. Mutta hyvin kallis ja pitkä hoito. Tästä syystä Montyä ei valittu. On pelottavaa ihmisille avata sydäntään koiraan, jolla on kuolemansyyn aiheuttava ja kallis ongelma. Kuitenkin Montylle asiat olivat hyvin. Hän oli iloinen tässä, hänellä on tehty paljon koirakaveria ja hän rakensi olla osa meidän pakkaamme. Hänen matkansa loppui surullisesti tässä.

He was beautiful, full of love, life and character. Normally the type of dog that we can re-home easily. However Monty had a sad problem. He had heartworm (filaria) which is an awful problem that can kill dogs. It's incredibly common here but the saddest thing is that it is very easy to prevent. A yearly injection or with monthly pills/ spot on treatment will keep them safe. However, so many dogs come to us with the problem. Is this because of lack of knowledge, ignorance or people don't care? We don't know… If left untreated it is fatal. However fortunately for the dogs that get into rescue homes it is also treatable. But with a very expensive and long treatment. For this Monty wasn't chosen. It's scary for people to open their hearts to a dog with a fatal and expensive problem. However for Monty things were ok. He was happy here, he has made loads of doggy friends and loved being part of our pack. His journey sadly ended here.
