Ele era belo, cheio de amor, vida e personalidade. Normalmente o tipo de cão que podemos adotar facilmente. No entanto, Monty tinha um problema triste. Tinha filaria, que é um problema horrível que pode matar cães. É extremamente comum aqui, mas o mais triste é que é muito fácil prevenir. Uma injeção anual ou com pílulas mensais ou tratamento tópico manterá os cães seguros. No entanto, muitos cães chegam até nós com esse problema. Será por falta de conhecimento, ignorância ou as pessoas não se importarem? Não sabemos... Se deixado sem tratamento, é fatal. No entanto, felizmente para os cães que entram em lares de resgate, também é tratável. Mas com um tratamento muito caro e longo. Por isso Monty não foi escolhido. É assustador para as pessoas abrirem o coração a um cão com um problema fatal e caro. No entanto, para Monty as coisas estavam bem. Ele era feliz aqui, fez muitos amigos caninos e amava fazer parte do nosso grupo. O seu percurso terminou aqui.

He was beautiful, full of love, life and character. Normally the type of dog that we can re-home easily. However Monty had a sad problem. He had heartworm (filaria) which is an awful problem that can kill dogs. It's incredibly common here but the saddest thing is that it is very easy to prevent. A yearly injection or with monthly pills/ spot on treatment will keep them safe. However, so many dogs come to us with the problem. Is this because of lack of knowledge, ignorance or people don't care? We don't know… If left untreated it is fatal. However fortunately for the dogs that get into rescue homes it is also treatable. But with a very expensive and long treatment. For this Monty wasn't chosen. It's scary for people to open their hearts to a dog with a fatal and expensive problem. However for Monty things were ok. He was happy here, he has made loads of doggy friends and loved being part of our pack. His journey sadly ended here.
