Er war wunderschön, voll Liebe, Leben und Charakter. Normalerweise der Typ Hund, den wir leicht vermitteln können. Allerdings hatte Monty ein trauriges Problem. Er hatte Herzwürmer (Filarien), was ein schreckliches Problem ist, das Hunde töten kann. Es ist hier äußerst häufig, aber das Traurigste ist, dass es sehr einfach vorzubeugen ist. Eine jährliche Spritze oder monatliche Pillen/Spot-on-Behandlung schützt sie. Allerdings kommen so viele Hunde mit diesem Problem zu uns. Ist das wegen fehlendem Wissen, Unwissenheit oder Menschen kümmern sich nicht? Wir wissen es nicht... Wenn nicht behandelt, ist es tödlich. Glücklicherweise ist es für Hunde, die in Rettungshäusern landen, auch behandelbar. Aber mit einer sehr teuren und langen Behandlung. Aus diesem Grund wurde Monty nicht gewählt. Es ist erschreckend für Leute, ihr Herz einem Hund mit einem tödlichen und teuren Problem zu öffnen. Dennoch war es bei Monty okay. Er war glücklich hier, er hat viele Hunde Freunde gemacht und liebte es Teil unserer Gruppe zu sein. Sein Weg endete leider hier.

He was beautiful, full of love, life and character. Normally the type of dog that we can re-home easily. However Monty had a sad problem. He had heartworm (filaria) which is an awful problem that can kill dogs. It's incredibly common here but the saddest thing is that it is very easy to prevent. A yearly injection or with monthly pills/ spot on treatment will keep them safe. However, so many dogs come to us with the problem. Is this because of lack of knowledge, ignorance or people don't care? We don't know… If left untreated it is fatal. However fortunately for the dogs that get into rescue homes it is also treatable. But with a very expensive and long treatment. For this Monty wasn't chosen. It's scary for people to open their hearts to a dog with a fatal and expensive problem. However for Monty things were ok. He was happy here, he has made loads of doggy friends and loved being part of our pack. His journey sadly ended here.
