Cedar est une petite dame très timide qui nous a été envoyée par un éleveur. Elle est complètement fermée et n'a pas beaucoup d'expérience de la vie, donc tout lui est nouveau et effrayant. Depuis son arrivée, elle a fait de petits mais significatifs progrès. Au début, elle n'avait pas mangé pendant plus d'une semaine à cause de sa peur. Il a fallu beaucoup de patience, différents aliments et des méthodes de nourrissage avant qu'elle ne se sente suffisamment en sécurité pour manger. Finalement, elle a commencé à manger du poulet à l'arrière de son box, là où elle se sentait en sécurité, et maintenant elle mange sa nourriture habituelle avec les autres chiens, même si quelqu'un la regarde. Ces dernières semaines, elle a encore progressé et maintenant elle accepte un friandis de par terre près de son box. La peur de Cedar envers les humains est très forte. Elle évite d'être touchée ou manipulée, et son corps tout entier se tend lorsqu'une interaction est nécessaire. Mais il y a des indices de confiance : le matin, elle courait vers l'avant de son box, la queue wagant, donnant des baisers quand elle voyait quelqu'un de connu. Elle est actuellement dans un foyer d'adoption où elle apprend les bases de la vie en famille et découvre de nouvelles compétences comme l'entraînement aux toilettes. Elle profite d'explorer le jardin et passe son temps à comprendre comment fonctionne le monde autour d'elle. Elle n'est pas prête pour l'entraînement au harnais ou pour des promenades à l'extérieur. Cedar doit développer sa confiance intérieure avant de pouvoir découvrir le monde extérieur. Son futur foyer devra comprendre que les progrès seront lents et ne doivent jamais être précipités. Cedar aura besoin d'adoptants très expérimentés, calmes et patients qui peuvent offrir un amour inconditionnel et une constance. Elle ne révélera peut-être jamais pourquoi elle a si peur, mais avec le temps et un soutien doux, elle peut commencer à se sentir en sécurité et apprendre que la vie peut être bienveillante. Elle a besoin d'un foyer calme et compréhensif où elle pourra grandir à son rythme, avec quelqu'un qui ne la laissera jamais tomber. Elle a besoin d'un chien résident qui la prendra sous son aile et lui permettra la patience dont elle a besoin pour s'épanouir. Cette petite dame a déjà fait de petits pas en avant, et avec le bon...

Cedar is a very timid little lady who has come to us from a breeder. She is completely shut down and has very little life experience, so everything is new and frightening for her. Since arriving, she has shown tiny but meaningful steps forward. At first, she was too scared to eat for over a week. It took a lot of patience, different foods, and ways of feeding before she began to feel safe enough to eat. Eventually, she started taking chicken at the back of her kennel, where she felt secure, and now she will eat her normal food alongside the other dogs, even if someone is watching. In recent weeks she has progressed even further and now will eat a treat from the floor near her kennel mummy. Cedar’s fear of humans is very strong. She avoids being touched or handled, and her whole body tenses when interaction is necessary. But there are glimpses of trust: in the mornings, she would run to the front of her kennel, tail wagging, giving kisses when she saw someone familiar. She is now in a foster home where she is learning the basics of home life and learning new skills like toilet training. She is enjoying exploring the garden and spends her time figuring out how the world around her works. She isn’t ready for harness training or walks outside. Cedar needs to build her inner confidence before she can experience the outside world. Her future home will need to understand that progress will be slow and must never be rushed. Cedar will need very experienced, calm, and patient adopters who can provide unconditional love and consistency. She may never fully reveal why she is so scared, but with time and gentle support, she can start to feel safe and learn that life can be kind. She needs a quiet, understanding home where she can grow at her own pace, with someone who will never give up on her. She needs a resident dog that will take her under their wing and allow her the patience she needs to grow. This little lady has already taken small steps forward, and with the right home, she can continue to do so, slowly, carefully, and surrounded by love. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
