Mac is - somewhat bulldog-like - a low-energy creature that likes things warm, soft, and cozy. While almost all dogs are already awake when they arrive for work and tell the caretaker to hurry up, Mac prefers to turn over in his bed one more time and hopes to delay the first outdoor session by a few minutes. Nothing is too warm for him, as a bulldog naturally reaches his limits quickly; but fresh and cool is even less to his liking, as he doesn't like to feel cold at all. Therefore, in autumn, he walks comfortably through fields and meadows with a light transitional jacket. Equipped with a muzzle.Mac is comfortable and low-energy until something doesn't suit him or his misguided hunting behavior is triggered by running people. In the past, he has sometimes bitten his owners severely if a situation didn't suit him or if something became too much for him. Bathing him, taking him to the vet, holding him down, or performing similar "coercive actions" on him is no problem for him; it doesn't bother him; it doesn't worry him. He definitely enjoys physical contact with his trusted people.Mac becomes alert the moment he wants to keep strangers away from himself or if someone seems odd to him; anyone who doesn't meet Mac's norm, he wants out of his system. He decides this lightning fast, sometimes even from a distance. If he is clearly guided by his primary caregiver and trusts her to be able to take responsibility for him, he shows himself unobtrusively, as he has been worked on in the animal shelter. However, if he were allowed to decide again on his own, he would fall back into old behavioral patterns.Mac wears a muzzle not only during walks outside, but also in training situations where he encounters more stimuli or something unfamiliar. In the animal shelter and with his caregivers, Mac appears uncritical and cooperative; they have known each other for a long time. He copes well with being alone, likes forest walks, and rides in the car with minimal protest (occasional bulldog singing). He is relatively modest in his demands on life.Mac gets along very well with other animals; although he can certainly do without stress and conflicts, he can be conflict capable with other animals when necessary. For Mac, the needle is sought in the haystack - like so many animal shelters...A home with two adults would be ideal, who have at least one confident existing dog, who is well-behaved and can possibly support in assigning Mac his secure place in the system. A house in a rural area would be advantageous, so that Mac is not exposed to too many stimuli and his humans are not dependent on the favor of others. According to experience, it is difficult for owners of dogs with "side effects" to find peace in an apartment building or to be dependent on a landlord. The people being sought should have leadership potential or preferably already have experience with dogs that challenge them. They should have no hesitation in allowing the dog to wear a muzzle, because Mac will always need it outside and in the presence of strangers. Also, he should wear the muzzle temporarily in the adaptation phase in the house, so that his humans can safely handle him and recognize conflict situations without being harmed. It is not the animal shelter's goal to forcibly place Mac, and it has already come to terms with the thought that he may stay here forever, but of course, everyone wishes each of its charges a home with their very own people; hope dies last. Perhaps fate will have it that now there is a spot available with people who have dedicated themselves to dogs that have had a bad start in life and make special demands on their owners. In the animal shelter, he is one of the most popular dogs among the staff and volunteers because of his unique charm and some of his quirky habits. He has often captured people's interest, but a possible move to a home must surely be carefully considered and equipped with a network and double floor. This animal was abandoned.
