07-07-26 Archie is such a sweet little man who came into our care from a breeder. He was adopted but has sadly been returned after his adopters felt they were not the right match for him. Archie formed a very strong bond with his female owner, but found it much harder to build a relationship with her husband, who was frequently away from home and therefore had very little opportunity to gain Archie's trust. When Archie becomes closely bonded to his favourite person, he can become protective of them. In his previous home, he nipped when he was sitting with his owner and her husband approached, so his new adopters will need to understand this behaviour and be prepared to continue building his confidence in a positive, patient way. Archie has settled back into rescue life well and is currently sharing his kennel with a lovely female dog, who he gets on very well with. He is a cuddly, affectionate little dog once he feels comfortable, although he isn't quite brave enough to take treats from our hands just yet. Although Archie gets on well with other dogs, he can become protective of his favourite person around them, so we think he would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where he can relax and build a close bond with his new family. As Archie has lived in a home before, he will already be familiar with the sights and sounds of home life. However, he may need a little reminding of his house training in a new environment, and he would benefit from some more practice walking on a lead. Archie is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with adopters who have experience of the breed and of rescue dogs. He will need people who are happy to give him the time and space he needs to settle and understand that he is safe. Archie is doing really well since returning to us and his confidence is growing all the time. He is such a loving little dog, and in the right home, we hope he will continue to thrive and become a devoted companion.
