Fred is a handsome, 4‑year‑old Greyhound, weighing about 35kg, who is searching for a loving home after retiring from the demanding world of racing. Still young and full of potential, he’s ready to swap the track for a warm bed, kind people, and a peaceful family life. Fred is a friendly, affectionate boy who enjoys being petted and fussed over. He loves the company of people and other dogs, and his gentle nature makes him a joy to spend time with. He’s playful too — chasing his ball and toys is one of his favourite pastimes. Having spent his early years in racing kennels, Fred has likely never lived in a home environment. His level of house training is currently unknown, so he’ll need patience, understanding, and guidance as he learns the rhythms of family life. Out and about, Fred is a star. He walks beautifully on the lead, enjoys his daily outings, and loves having a good chase with other dogs in a secure area. Like most Greyhounds, he’s equally happy relaxing and snoozing in a comfortable spot once the excitement is over. Because of his racing background, Fred cannot live with cats, small dogs, or other small animals, as he is likely to chase them. However, he could happily share his home with one or more medium‑to‑large dogs, given careful introductions. Fred could live with dog‑aware children aged 12+ who understand his boundaries and will give him time to settle. He has travelled regularly in cars and vans during his racing career and is comfortable with vehicle travel.
