Health status: neurological head tilt; she is deaf. Siena is a very gentle and submissive female dog, although she has made tremendous progress and appears completely different to those who know and trust her. An important aspect of her personality is that she is deaf. This undoubtedly affects how she perceives the world and interacts with others. She cannot be called back— even when on a leash, one must exercise great caution and carefully monitor her safety. However, she absolutely loves human contact; she constantly glances over and observes people. She enjoys physical touch and actively seeks it out from humans, eagerly awaiting reassurance and petting. It would certainly be helpful to practice calming techniques—when she experiences something intense, she can become easily agitated. Siena is a loving companion, and walks with her are truly enjoyable. She willingly wears a harness and collar and allows you to gently massage her neck. She’s somewhat wary of new spaces within the building, and crossing thresholds for the first time (such as entering new rooms or encountering glass reflections) can be challenging. It’s possible that her lack of hearing also contributes to her uncertainty. On walks, she sniffs extensively, circles around, and seems joyful—she does wonderfully in the woods, but the street near the shelter causes her stress. Initially, this was a significant challenge for her, but now she handles familiar urban areas extremely well and happily follows along behind her trusted caregiver (though heavy traffic and large vehicles still pose difficulties and remain stressful for her). We recommend her for a calm home environment that will accept her shyness and help her build confidence. She shows absolutely no aggression, but this dog will need support as she explores the world—not by force, but at her own pace.

Daje sobie założyć szelki i obróżkę, pomasować szyjkę. Nieco boi się nowych przestrzeni w budynku i przekraczanie drzwi po raz pierwszy (np. nowe pomieszczenia, jakieś szklane odbicia) może być trudne. Możliwe, że brak zmysłu słuchu też wpływa na jej niepewność. Na spacerze dużo wącha, kręci się, jest radosna – w lesie radzi sobie super, ale ulica przy schronisku jest stresująca. Początkowo był to dla niej ogromny problem obecnie radzi sobie świetnie w znanych ulicznych miejscach i podążą chętnie za zaufanym opiekunem(chociaż spory ruch i duże auta nadal są dla niej trudne i stresujące). Polecamy do spokojnego domu, który zaakceptuje jej nieśmiałość i pomoże jej w zdobyciu pewności siebie. Nie ma w niej zupełnie agresji, ale sunia będzie potrzebować wsparcia w poznawaniu świata – nie na siłę, a we własnym tempie.
