Sette meravigliosi cuccioli sono stati portati al rifugio. Li abbiamo chiamati "I Palloncini di Neve" C'erano cinque femmine: Iridessa, Blenda, Cadence, Bluebell e Fawn e due maschi: Buck e Bonito. Cinque di loro sono stati adottati come cuccioli, ma povera Cadence e Belinda non hanno avuto così tanto fortuna, e per nessuna colpa loro sono ancora al rifugio, e questo certamente non è un posto dove un cucciolo dovrebbe crescere. Pensiamo che le ragazze siano incroci tra Collie e Pastore, ma potrebbe esserci anche un po' di Setter o di Spaniel! Molti dei nostri cani adottati da Lemnos hanno fatto i test del DNA e ci sono alcune incredibili sorprese - ma non è mai una sorpresa vedere il mix di cani da caccia nei cuccioli che continuano a comparire. E mentre continuerà questa irresponsabile riproduzione, non vedremo mai la fine della continua scia di cuccioli che arrivano al rifugio. Come cuccioli, pensavamo che le sorelle pesassero circa 20-25 chili quando sarebbero diventate adulte, il che potrebbe essere stato il motivo per cui non sono state adottate. Si è rivelato che si sono trasformate in cani di media taglia, che pesano 15 chili e quindi una dimensione gestibile per la maggior parte delle case. Cadence è esattamente come deve essere un cane giovane: birichino, divertente, curioso, tenero e pieno di gioia per la vita. E molto carina! Ama giocare con gli altri cani e cuccioli nel rifugio e abbracciare gli volontari quando ne ha l'opportunità. È brava con i gatti del rifugio e cammina perfettamente al guinzaglio. Non ha mai vissuto all'interno, quindi dovrà imparare cosa significa vivere in casa con introduzioni lente alle cose spaventose della vita come aspirapolvere, televisioni, finestre, porte, scale, auto - tutto davvero! Seven absolutely wonderful puppies were brought to the shelter. We called them “The Fairy Snowballs” There were five females: Iridessa, Blenda, Cadence, Bluebell and Fawn and two males: Buck and Bonito. Five of them were adopted as puppies, but poor Cadence and Belinda weren’t so lucky, and through no fault of theirs they are still at the shelter, and this is definitely not a place where a puppy should have to grow up. We believe that the girls are a Collie/Shepherd mix but there could also be some Setter/Spaniel in there too! Many of our adopted dogs from Lemnos have had their DNA tests done and there are some incredible surprises – but it’s never a surpise to see the hunting dog mix in the puppies who keep turning up. And while all this irresponsible breeding continues we are never going to see an end to the endless stream of puppies arriving at the shelter. As puppies, we thought that the sisters would weigh around 20-25 kilos as fully grown dogs, which might have been the reason they were not adopted. As it turns out they have grown into medium sized dogs, weighing 15 kilos and so a manageable size for most homes. Cadence is exactly how a young dog should be – mischievous, funny, curious, cuddly and full of joy for life. And incredibly cute! She loves to play with the other dogs and puppies at the shelter and cuddle with the volunteers when she gets a chance. She is great with the shelter cats and walks beautifully on the lead. She has never lived indoors so will need to learn about what life in a home looks like with slow introductions to the scary things of life like hoovers, TVs, windows, doors, stairs,cars – everything really!
