Siete perritos absolutamente maravillosos fueron llevados al refugio. Los llamamos "Los Copos de Nieve de las Hadas". Había cinco hembras: Iridessa, Blenda, Cadence, Bluebell y Fawn y dos machos: Buck y Bonito. Cinco de ellos fueron adoptados cuando eran cachorros, pero pobre Cadence y Belinda no tuvieron tanta suerte, y por ninguna culpa propia todavía están en el refugio, y esto definitivamente no es un lugar donde un cachorro deba crecer. Creemos que las chicas son una mezcla de Collie y Pastor, pero también podría haber algo de Setter y Spaniel ¡también! Muchos de nuestros perros adoptados de Lemnos han tenido hechas pruebas de ADN y hay algunas increíbles sorpresas, pero nunca es una sorpresa ver la mezcla de perro de caza en los cachorros que continúan apareciendo. Y mientras continúe este cruce irresponsable, nunca vamos a ver el fin de la continua corriente de cachorros que llegan al refugio. Como cachorros, pensábamos que las hermanas pesarían alrededor de 20-25 kilos como perros adultos, lo que podría haber sido la razón por la que no fueron adoptadas. Resulta que se han convertido en perros de tamaño medio, pesando 15 kilos y así un tamaño manejable para la mayoría de las casas. Cadence es exactamente cómo debe ser un perro joven: travieso, divertido, curioso, cariñoso y lleno de alegría por la vida. ¡Y muy adorable! Le encanta jugar con los otros perros y cachorros del refugio y acurrucarse con los voluntarios cuando tiene la oportunidad. Es genial con los gatos del refugio y camina perfectamente con la correa. Nunca ha vivido en interiores, por lo que necesitará aprender sobre cómo es la vida en una casa con introducciones lentas a las cosas aterradoras de la vida como aspiradoras, televisores, ventanas, puertas, escaleras, coches - ¡todo en realidad! Seven absolutely wonderful puppies were brought to the shelter. We called them “The Fairy Snowballs” There were five females: Iridessa, Blenda, Cadence, Bluebell and Fawn and two males: Buck and Bonito. Five of them were adopted as puppies, but poor Cadence and Belinda weren’t so lucky, and through no fault of theirs they are still at the shelter, and this is definitely not a place where a puppy should have to grow up. We believe that the girls are a Collie/Shepherd mix but there could also be some Setter/Spaniel in there too! Many of our adopted dogs from Lemnos have had their DNA tests done and there are some incredible surprises – but it’s never a surpise to see the hunting dog mix in the puppies who keep turning up. And while all this irresponsible breeding continues we are never going to see an end to the endless stream of puppies arriving at the shelter. As puppies, we thought that the sisters would weigh around 20-25 kilos as fully grown dogs, which might have been the reason they were not adopted. As it turns out they have grown into medium sized dogs, weighing 15 kilos and so a manageable size for most homes. Cadence is exactly how a young dog should be – mischievous, funny, curious, cuddly and full of joy for life. And incredibly cute! She loves to play with the other dogs and puppies at the shelter and cuddle with the volunteers when she gets a chance. She is great with the shelter cats and walks beautifully on the lead. She has never lived indoors so will need to learn about what life in a home looks like with slow introductions to the scary things of life like hoovers, TVs, windows, doors, stairs,cars – everything really!
