A volte la nostra responsabilità è offrire un ultimo atto di bontà. Salvare un animale da un futuro miserabile anche se non possiamo curarli. Portarli da noi solo per farli lasciare questo mondo con dignità e senza dolore. Sfortunatamente è questo il caso di Luna. Questo povero asino ha avuto ciò che il veterinario aveva supposto fosse un incidente alcuni anni fa e non è stato trattato, lasciato a "curarsi" in quel modo. La sua intera zampa è capovolta. Quando l'abbiamo vista abbiamo dovuto salvarla, avevamo un piccolo speranza che forse, forse non fosse così grave come sembrava. Ma nel nostro cuore sapevamo che era improbabile e gli esami radiografici lo hanno confermato. I danni sono andati troppo avanti per poterli riparare con le risorse disponibili su quest'isola e è estremamente doloroso. Luna aveva difficoltà a stare in piedi e si vedeva sempre sdraiata, il suo corpo è malato, mangia appena, il dolore le impedisce di prendere peso, gli occhi sono infossati e non interagisce. È una scheggia dell'asino che sarebbe potuta essere. La nostra unica opzione per porre fine al suo soffrire è mandarla oltre il ponte dell'arcobaleno esperienziando un po' di compassione, un nome, amore e cure alla fine. Potrebbe non essere una decisione piacevole. Ma sappiamo che è la giusta. Luna è una razza "fancy" e veniva tenuta per riprodursi. Aggiungendo stress e peso al suo già rotto corpo. Usata come macchina da riproduzione. Forse non possiamo salvarla completamente. Ma sappiamo che in qualche modo l'abbiamo comunque salvata. Non solo è un'esperienza dolorosamente triste, abbiamo una bolletta di circa 700 euro per farlo accadere. (Acquisto di lei, trasporto, spese veterinarie, radiografia, passaggio e raccolta del corpo) questo è il prezzo di una fine dignitosa. Se puoi spendere un paio di euro ne saremmo grati e ci permette di continuare a offrire l'ultimo atto di bontà quando necessario. Sometimes our responsibility is offering a last act of kindness. Saving an animal from a miserable future even though we can not heal them. This poor donkey has had what the vet assumed was an accident some years ago and was left without treatment, left to “heal ” in this way. Her entire foot is upside down. The damage is so far gone it would be impossible to fix with the resources on this island and it is extremely painful. Luna struggled to stand and is always seen laying down, her body is sick, she barely eats, the pain stops her from gaining weight, her eyes are sunken and she doesn't interact. She is a shell of the donkey she would have once been. Our only option to end her suffering is to send her over the rainbow bridge experiencing a little compassion, a name , love and caring at the end. It may not be a nice decision. But we know it is the right one. Luna is a “fancy breed” and was kept to breed from. Adding stress and weight to her already broken body. Used as a breeding machine. Maybe we can not save her fully. But we know that somehow we still saved her. Not only is this a painfully sad experience, we have a bill of around €700 to make it happen.
