Merlot è arrivato da noi come un cucciolo molto piccolo, insieme ai suoi cinque fratelli. A quel tempo, tutti i cuccioli erano molto spaventati. Una coppia si è avvicinata con cautela, gli altri si sono nascosti e Merlot è stato l'unico che ha mostrato i denti. Come se si fosse preso l'incarico di proteggere tutta la famiglia, per dimostrare di essere il più coraggioso, il meno timoroso. È bastato solo pochi giorni e una manciata di premi perché tornassero a essere cuccioli. Merlot ha fatto grandi sorrisi per un pezzo di salame. Quando sono usciti i giocattoli, era il primo e il migliore. Sapeva esattamente cosa fare, come inseguire, come catturare, come "sconfiggere" quel povero pupazzo che non aveva alcuna possibilità contro i suoi denti da cucciolo. Poi sono arrivate le passeggiatine, e tutto il resto che porta un cucciolo dall'"indecisione" all'adolescenza "ce la faccio io". Il tempo è passato, e ora è un giovane adulto che impara velocemente quando guidato nel modo giusto. È intelligente, vivace e di buon umore, con una rara dolcezza. Da nessuna parte, si infilerà il naso nei tuoi bracci, come se volesse rimanervi per sempre. Il suo pelo folto, lo scintillio nei suoi occhi e il suo carattere fanno una combinazione difficile da notare. Ci troviamo ad amarlo sempre di più ogni giorno. Guardandolo crescere in rifugio, non possiamo fare a meno di chiederci perché. Perché non ha ancora trovato la sua persona? Non gli manca nulla. Siamo veramente convinti che abbia tutto ciò che serve per diventare un compagno eccezionale.

Merlot came to us as a tiny puppy, together with his five siblings. Back then, all the babies were very scared. A couple approached us cautiously, the rest hid, and Merlot was the only one who showed his teeth. As if he had taken it upon himself to protect the whole family, to prove he was the bravest, the most fearless. It took just a few days and a handful of treats for them to become puppies again. Merlot broke into big smiles for a piece of salami. When the toys came out, he was the first and the best. He knew exactly what to do, how to chase, how to catch, how to “defeat” that poor stuffed toy that stood no chance against his puppy teeth. Then came the walks, and everything else that carries a puppy from “baby” to “I’ve got this” adolescence. Time passed, and now he is a young adult who learns quickly when guided the right way. He is smart, playful, and good natured, with a rare tenderness. Out of nowhere, he will tuck his nose into your arms, as if trying to stay there forever. His fluffy coat, the spark in his eyes, and his character make a combination that is hard to miss. We find ourselves loving him more every day. Watching him grow up in the shelter, we cannot help but wonder why. Why has he not found his person yet? He lacks nothing. We truly believe he has everything it takes to become an exceptional companion.
