Nya è stata salvata da Adoption Dogs Portugal alcuni anni fa e ha trascorso il periodo intercorrente in un adottivo amorevole. Ha fatto notevoli progressi in quel periodo, ma rimane un cane molto spaventato e diffidente, anche con persone che conosce bene. Questo rende difficile dimostrare affetto a Nya, anche se il suo attuale curatore è in grado di metterla al guinzaglio e accarezzarla se Nya si trova in un luogo familiare dove si sente sicura. Nya cammina bene al guinzaglio, purché non venga portata in una situazione che la spaventi, ma cammina bene anche senza guinzaglio e resta vicino. Nya non morde mai e è molto sottomessa. Nonostante la sua diffidenza verso gli umani, Nya è a suo agio con altri cani, purché siano gentili e l'accettino. Una volta che Nya ha stabilito un legame con un cane che fiducia, non lo lascerà mai. Cerchiamo una casa per Nya dove possa avere tanta libertà all'aperto, preferibilmente in una quinta in un ambiente tranquillo dove non ci sia molta attività umana che possa essere allarmante per lei. Nya non sarà mai un cane adatto alle coccole e non può essere visto come un "animale domestico" nel senso convenzionale, ma è un eccellente cane da guardia. È vigilante, ha un abbaiare forte, ma non morde. Saprà essere un fedele compagno per un altro cane e può vivere una vita molto felice all'aperto in un ambiente adatto e sicuro.

Nya was rescued by Adoption Dogs Portugal some years ago and has spent the intervening period in a loving foster home. She has made significant progress in that time, but remains a very scared and mistrustful dog, even with people she knows well. That makes it challenging to demonstrate affection for Nya, although her current carer is able to put her on a lead and stroke her if Nya is in a familiar place where she feels safe. Nya walks well on a lead, as long as she isn’t taken into a situation that scares her, but she also walks well and stays close without a lead. Nya never bites and is very submissive. Despite her mistrust of humans, Nya is comfortable around other dogs, as long as they are kind and they accept her. Once Nya has established a bond with a dog that she trusts, she will never leave its side. We’re looking for a home for Nya where she can have plenty of freedom outdoors, preferably on a quinta in peaceful surroundings where there is not a lot of human activity that might be alarming to her. Nya will never be a cuddly dog, and cannot be viewed as a ‘pet’ in the conventional sense, but she is an exceptionally good guard dog. She is watchful, has a loud bark, but doesn’t bite. She will be a loyal companion to another dog and can live a very happy outdoors life in an appropriate, secure setting.
