Liam stava uscendo con i suoi amici una sera quando hanno assistito a un incidente: Riki è stato investito da un'auto di passaggio. Hanno cercato di catturarlo, ma era selvatico e, nonostante il dolore che provava, non è stato possibile avvicinarglisi. Alla fine è corso nella cantina degli amici di Liam, dove è stato possibile catturarlo. Era evidente che aveva riportato gravi lesioni alle zampe posteriori, confermate dalle radiografie. È stato sottoposto a un intervento per fissare con delle placche le fratture all'anca, dopodiché lo abbiamo riportato al rifugio per la convalescenza. Riki è ora un cucciolo molto affettuoso e socievole, che si è davvero ambientato bene nel rifugio.

Liam was out with his friends one evening when they witnessed Riki get hit by a passing car. They tried to catch his but he was feral and despite the pain he was in they couldn't get near him. He eventually ran into Liams friends cellar where they were able to catch him. It became obvious that he had sustained serious injuries to his back legs which was confirmed with x-rays. He had an operation to pin his hips where the breaks were and we brought him back to the shelter to recover. Riki is now a very loving and friendly boy who has really settled in well at the shelter.
