18-07-26 Ureka is bij ons gekomen van een fokker en zoekt nu een heel speciaal forever home met adoptanten die haar kunnen helpen leren dat de wereld niet zo eng is. Ureka is een heel bezorgde kleine meid die de overgang naar het leven in een asiel ongelooflijk overweldigend vindt. Ze heeft moeite om zich te settelen in het kennelleven op dit moment en kan in haar kennel ronddraaien als ze zich angstig voelt. Om haar te helpen heeft ze tijd doorgebracht in een van onze rustigere kantoren met een andere hond voor gezelschap. Hoewel ze geen tekenen van ronddraaien vertoonde toen ze daar was, vond ze het nog steeds moeilijk om te settelen. Hoewel Ureka de dingen nu heel overweldigend vindt, geloven we dat ze in het juiste huis zal floreren. Ze heeft ervaren adoptanten nodig die de behoeften van zeer angstige ex-fokhonden begrijpen en die bereid zijn haar volledig op haar eigen tempo te laten settelen, zonder enige verwachtingen. Ze zal op zoek zijn naar een rustige, stille, volwassen-enige thuis waar ze zich veilig en zeker kan voelen. Ze heeft ook minstens één andere vriendelijke en zelfverzekerde residente hond nodig die haar de kneepjes van het vak kan leren en haar kan helpen vertrouwen op te bouwen terwijl ze zich aanpast aan haar nieuwe leven. Aangezien Ureka nog nooit in een huis heeft gewoond, zal alles volledig nieuw voor haar zijn. Ze heeft geduldige en begripvolle adoptanten nodig die haar zachtjes kunnen begeleiden door alle dingen die de meeste honden als vanzelfsprekend beschouwen, inclusief zindelijkheidstraining, huishoudelijke routines en leren dat mensen te vertrouwen zijn. Ze begint te leren om aan de lijn en harnas te lopen en doet het goed, maar ze heeft nog veel meer tijd en oefening nodig om haar vertrouwen te winnen. Ureka's reis zal niet snel zijn, maar voor iemand die bereid is haar de tijd, begrip en TLC te geven die ze nodig heeft, zal het kijken naar haar hoe ze langzaam de vreugden van het leven thuis ontdekt ongelooflijk lonend zijn. Ze verdient de kans om haar zorgen achter zich te laten en eindelijk een gelukkig, veilig leven te ervaren dat elke hond zou moeten hebben. Ureka heeft een reisdocument. Deze hond kan met een residente hond worden gehuisvest.

Ureka has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. When she first arrived she was an incredibly worried little girl who found the transition into rescue life very overwhelming. She struggled to settle in the kennel environment and, when anxious, could spin in her kennel. To help her, she spent time in one of our quieter offices with another dog for company, where she did not show any spinning but still found it difficult to relax. Ureka has now moved to a wonderful foster home and is getting to experience home life for the first time ever. We are very pleased to say that there has been no spinning during her time in a home environment. It may be that she found the kennel environment particularly difficult, although her adopters will need to be aware that this behaviour could potentially resurface if she becomes very worried or overwhelmed in her new home. Ureka will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and who are prepared to give her the time and patience she needs to settle in at her own pace and gain confidence through gentle, positive experiences. She will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to take her under their wing. She relies on other dogs for comfort and reassurance and having another dog in the home will help her continue to build confidence. In foster, Ureka is beginning to show more of her personality. She is happy to potter around the home and garden and is fairly relaxed on walks in quiet areas, where she enjoys having plenty of time to sniff and explore. She is comfortable around other dogs and has been good with both the resident dogs in her foster home and dogs she meets while out on walks. Ureka is still a very nervous girl and can become worried by handling or unfamiliar situations. When anxious, she may grumble, bark, growl or flinch, but she has never attempted to snap or bite, but her adopters will need to be understanding and allow her to settle at her own pace and not push her out of her comfort zone too quickly. Although she is not completely comfortable with being handled, she is gradually allowing her fosterer to stroke her, put her harness on and pick her up. She is also beginning to understand that people can be trusted. Ureka is food motivated and will approach for treats, which is helping her to build positive associations with people. Although she is usually fed separately, she is happy to share her food. As Ureka has never lived in a home before moving to foster, there is still a lot for her to learn and her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she settles in and continues to learn all about home life and new skills like house training. Ureka has already made some lovely progress during her time in foster, but she is still very much at the beginning of her journey. She will need a very special home with adopters who are willing to work with her and help her become a happy, confident and well-rounded little girl. With time, patience, understanding and the support of kind canine companion, we hope she can continue to discover that life in a home can be a safe and wonderful place. Ureka has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
