18-07-26 Ureka has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a very special forever home with adopters who can help her learn that the world isn't such a scary place. Ureka is a very worried little girl who has found the transition into rescue life incredibly overwhelming. She is struggling to settle into kennel life at the moment and can spin in her kennel when she is feeling anxious. To help her, she has spent time visiting one of our quieter offices with another dog for company. Although she didn't show any signs of spinning while she was there, she still found it difficult to settle. Although Ureka is finding things very overwhelming right now, we believe that in the right home she will thrive. She will need experienced adopters who understand the needs of very scared ex-breeding dogs and who are prepared to let her settle entirely at her own pace, without any expectations. She will be looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home where she can begin to feel safe and secure. She will also need at least one other kind and confident resident dog who can show her the ropes and help her build confidence as she adjusts to her new life. As Ureka has never lived in a home before, everything will be completely new to her. She will need patient and understanding adopters who can gently guide her through all the things most dogs take for granted, including housetraining, household routines and learning that people can be trusted. She is beginning to learn to walk on a lead and harness and is doing well, but she will need plenty more time and practice to help her gain confidence. Ureka's journey won't be a quick one, but for someone willing to give her the time, understanding and TLC she needs, watching her slowly discover the joys of home life will be incredibly rewarding. She deserves the chance to leave her worries behind and finally experience the happy, secure life every dog should have. Ureka has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
