Hope Rescue is de leidende hondewelzijnsvereniging die het leven redt van straathonden, verlaten en ongewenste honden in Zuid-Wales. Sinds 2005 heeft ons team duizenden honden een tweede kans gegeven die een nieuw begin nodig hebben, van onze eigen faciliteiten in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Wij zijn verplicht om alle straathonden te nemen van zes lokale autoriteiten in Zuid-Wales - Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend en de westelijke helft van de Vale of Glamorgan - ongeacht hun leeftijd, ras of medische toestand. Wij helpen de meest kwetsbare honden in onze lokale gemeenschappen, werken nauw samen met lokale autoriteiten in Zuid-Wales om hen te ondersteunen met hun straathonden en honden die zijn ingezet uit lage dierlijke welzijnssituaties of illegale fokkers. Wij bereiden honden voor op hun tweede kans op een gelukkig leven, nemen tijd om hun behoeften te beoordelen en het juiste thuis te vinden. Wij bieden ook waardevolle ondersteuning aan huisdierenbezitters in crisis die hun dieren moeten ophoeden. Hope Rescue kampt actief voor verbeteringen in dierwelzijnswetten en toepassing, en geeft ondersteuning en advies aan het publiek over verantwoord hondengezag. Na 12 jaar van operatie van commerciële hondennachten en tijdelijke pleeggezinnen, kochten we eindelijk ons eigen reddingscentrum in Llanharan, Zuid-Wales in april 2017. Sinds het verhuizen naar ons Llanharan-locatie hebben wij meer dan 5.700 honden geholpen. Ons centrum heeft 62 reddingskooien, oefenpleinen, een binnen trainingscentrum en 18 hectare privékwekerij. Onze hulpverleners helpen momenteel ongeveer 800 honden per jaar en naast het ophoeden van ons reddingscentrum werken wij ook met andere reddingen, waaronder Blue Cross, Dogs Trust en Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, om onze honden te vermaken. Wij ontvangen de RSPCA Platinum Pawprints-uitgave voor kooien. Onze geweldige vrijwilligers als pleeggezinnen helpen ook met extra capaciteit wanneer wij onder druk staan. Dit maakt het mogelijk om aanzienlijk het aantal honden dat wij kunnen helpen te vergroten. We hebben net een nieuw communiteitsprogramma gelanceerd, Hope in the community. Dit zal zich richten op het bieden van ondersteuning aan hondeneigenaren in Zuid-Wales, inclusief gemeenschapsuitstralingdagen, een-op-één-ondersteuning voor hondeneigenaren die met het welzijn van hun hond en hun eigen welzijn worstelen en het ondersteunen van professionals en leden van gemeenschapsorganisaties om te reageren op de behoeften van hondeneigenaren en goede praktijk op hondgerelateerde problemen die gemeenschappen beïnvloeden. Hope Rescue is the leading dog welfare charity that saves the lives of strays, abandoned and unwanted dogs in South Wales. Since 2005, our team has given a second chance to thousands of dogs that need a new start, from our dedicated facilities in Rhondda Cynon Taf. We commit to take all the stray dogs from six Local Authorities in South Wales - Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and the western half of the Vale of Glamorgan - irrespective of their age, breed, or medical condition. We help the most vulnerable dogs in our local communities, working closely with Local Authorities across South Wales to support them with their stray dogs and dogs seized from low welfare or illegal breeders. We prepare dogs for their second chance at a happy life, taking time to assess their needs and find the perfect home. We also provide valuable support to pet owners in crisis who need to rehome their pets. Hope Rescue actively campaigns for improvements to animal welfare legislation and enforcement, and provides support and advice to the public on responsible dog ownership. After operating from commercial boarding kennels and foster homes for 12 years we finally purchased and moved into our own rescue centre in Llanharan, South Wales in April 2017. Since moving to our Llanharan site, we have helped more than 5,700 dogs. Our centre has 62 rescue kennels, exercise paddocks, an indoor training centre, and 18 acres of private woodland. We currently help around 800 dogs a year and, as well as rehoming from our rescue centre, we also work with other rescues, including Blue Cross, Dogs Trust and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, to take our dogs. We hold the RSPCA Platinum Pawprints award for kennelling. Our amazing volunteer foster homes also help with additional capacity when we are under pressure. This enables us to significantly increase the number of dogs we can help. We recently launched a new community programme, Hope in the community. This will focus on providing support to dog owners across South Wales including community outreach days, one-to-one support for dog owners struggling with their pet’s welfare and own wellbeing and supporting professionals and members of community organisations to respond to the needs of dog owners and develop good practice on dog related issues affecting communities. We have charity shops in Blackwood, Merthyr Tydfil, Pontyclun, and Pontypridd, raising funds for the dogs in our care. We hold events throughout the year, including dog shows in local communities, and our flagship Barking Mad events in August.
