Heather é uma senhora linda com uma alma sensível e muita personalidade quando ela se abre para você! Heather chegou à nossa responsabilidade como um animal perdido, coberta de feridas em cura e cicatrizes. Não temos certeza do que aconteceu a Heather antes dela chegar ao BARC, mas ela é uma senhora doce que pode ser tímida ao conhecer pessoas novas inicialmente, mas assim que se sente confortável, ela é animada e às vezes procura afeto e abraços das pessoas favoritas. Ela está procurando um lar que tenha um jardim seguro e privado com cercas altas devido ao seu instinto de presa. Ela pode ficar assustada com tráfego movimentado e barulhos altos, então um lar mais rural longe de muitas estradas movimentadas seria ideal para Heather. Ela pode ficar nervosa com alguns cães e com muitas pessoas passando por ela durante caminhadas, então será necessário ter rotas de caminhada tranquilas (campos, florestas, caminhos longe das estradas, etc.). Devido ao seu alto instinto de presa e ansiedade, Heather precisará permanecer presa a uma coleira/linha longa durante as caminhadas, pois ela pode perseguir vida selvagem ou correr se assustada. Heather pode viver com crianças sensatas de 16+ anos que poderão respeitar quando Heather precisa de espaço e quer ser independente - ela não é o tipo de cachorro que gosta de ser cercado ou agarrado, a menos que esteja buscando afeto. Às vezes ela pode ficar empolgada e, se ficar muito empolgada, ela pode pular um pouco e ocasionalmente morder suavemente - mas está se comportando bem com treinamento e pegando brinquedos quando se sente excessivamente empolgada! Heather is looking for a semi-rural or rural home (or a home in a quieter area) with a tall boundary and secure private garden so she can explore and zoomie as much as she pleases. She can be a little shy when first meeting people but soon warms up and will enjoy a cuddle on the sofa with you, although she can forget her size sometimes! She’s a whacky, exciteable character with a heart of gold and has been friendly, depsite some anxiety, with everyone she has met so far. Heather can sometimes be a little on the over-excited side, with the occassional gentle mouthing of your hands or jumping up at you – but is doing incredibly well with her training on this. Because of this reason Heather can only live with Children 16+. She has mixed with another lurcher on site and had a lovely time making friends with him. She can get a little bit carried away with her play due to prey drive at times so the dogs she does make friends with will need to be confident and happy for a vocal game of chase! Heather will benefit as being the only dog in the home and won’t be able to live in a home with any cats or small animals. Walks are something Heather used to be worried about but she is growing day by day to enjoy them and is getting more confident as time goes on. She walks beautifully on the lead and would appreciate 1-2 walks a day where she can sniff and explore but due to her prey drive she will need to remain on a lead or long line unless she is in a secure dog field. She’s shown some very mild signs of separation anxiety but we do feel she’d be okay to be left for a couple of hours once she’s had time to settle into her new home and this can be worked on with her new family. She gains confidence quickly once around people she feels comfortable with so it won’t be long until Heather is your best friend.
